We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our facilities team at West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth. This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week, from 0800 to 1700, Mon to Fri.
The role:
- Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor
- To provide technical engineering support within the Hard FM Services department by carrying out preventative maintenance to deadline plus maintain paperwork to support PPM activities
- To respond to reactive and emergency faults and conduct reactive maintenance work to ensure compliance with KPI’s
- To manage sub-contractors as necessary working to a safe system of work and permit-to-work system
- To undertake AP/RP duties for the disciplines for which you have been appointed
- Working 40 hours per week, from 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday with a requirement to participate in the out of hours on call rota and be able to respond/attend site within one hour of the call
The person:
- Must hold a recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience
- Previous supervisory and mentoring experience essential
- Experience in building services maintenance is essential
- Willingness to attain cross skilling and IT Literate
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Demonstrate good planning, organising and prioritising skills
- Ability to show examples of using initiative and judgement to resolve problems
- Experience in a Healthcare environment an advantage
- Must have a good understanding of health & safety best practice; formal training an advantage

Maintenance Supervisor

We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance (M&E) Supervisor to join our Facilities Management team at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Key activities:
- Reporting to the Operations Manager / Senior Operations Manager
- To supervise the mechanical/electrical/building trade staff and specialist contractors
- Ensure the immediate and proper allocation of work, and the completion of such work, in accordance with the performance monitoring system and to client satisfaction.
- Order materials and services as required within agreed delegation level and certify satisfactory delivery/completion.
- Monitor trade staff performance, timekeeping and sickness in accordance with Company Policy.
- Provide estimates for quoted works, site measurements, cost control information and maintain necessary records for effective administration as directed.
- Required to undertake training and qualify as AP and/or CP if required.
- Requirement to work with tools as necessary day to day, during emergencies and supporting staff
- Working 40 hours per week from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday with participation in a call-out rota system to assist the company in responding to emergency situations.
Skills, qualifications & experience:
- Must hold a recognised electrical or mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant electrical or mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience.
- Will have significant experience in a building services environment with comprehensive M&E knowledge ideally within a hospital setting
- Will be a team player ideally with supervisory / management experience and used to working within a large team
- Will be client-focused with a delivery oriented and ‘can-do’ approach to work
- Able to demonstrate knowledge and application of the various trade groups to be managed i.e. building works, mechanical and electrical engineering
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Able to adapt and develop other skills, as well as demonstrate effective planning, organising and prioritising skills

Financial Reporting Accountant
Equans is looking for a Financial Reporting Accountant to join us on a permanent basis, located at our offices in Newcastle Upon Tyne or Rotherham. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
This is a key financial role covering the Equans UKBU perimeter, delivering specialist technical accounting the providing support to lead and manage a team in the delivery of statutory accounts and audit reporting as well as the management of technical accounting queries and changes to policies/IFRS standards.
What will you deliver?
- Provision of technical accounting support to the Business, demonstrating sound knowledge of the application of IFRS, addressing queries on accounting methodology, challenging proposed accounting and ultimately ensuring appropriate application of Group financial accounting policies, preparing technical accounting papers as audit evidence where necessary;
- Review of a) new accounting standards, determining impact, adoption approach and any training needs, as well as b) existing UKBU accounting policies to ensure continued adherence and relevance and consistency throughout the UKBU;
- Delivery of technical financial project work e.g. production of completion accounts, balance sheet reconciliation tidy-up, improvement of internal control processes, procedures and controls etc;
- Supporting to lead, manage and develop the External Financial Reporting Team in the delivery of high-quality external reporting including the production of annual statutory accounts to statutory deadlines;
- Managing an operational level relationship with the auditors, ensuring the quarterly, interim and annual audit requirements progress to agreed timelines and conclude smoothly;
- Production of industry specific regulatory reporting including Cabinet Office submissions, Office of National Statistics reporting and IAS 19 pension reporting;
- Assistance in the scrutiny of journal entries to ensure the source data is as accurate as possible prior to the audit process commencing;
- Planning and execution of step plans in relation to the liquidation of surplus entities within the UK BU, performed in accordance with UK law and UK GAAP;

Life Cycle Project Manager
Equans is looking for a Lifecycle Project Manager to join our team in Birmingham on a fixed term contract for 24 months. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.
This role is fundamental to the delivery of all projects and lifecycle works on behalf of Equans and the Client. Meeting the Clients needs and ensuring works are delivered within budget and on time is paramount and the post holder needs to reflect this in the day-day operations. All projects must ensure a favourable financial return.
As part of the Project Management team you will take full accountability for the delivery of Variations and Life Cycle projects across the PFI site. As part of this you will be expected to take manage the P&L and H&S for your projects from concept to completion with the support from the Lead PM and Head of Projects. Your role will be fundamental to the efficient delivery of projects to both the SPV and Trust who you will build relationships with as part of your role. You will be expected to work well with the remainder of the team and support the wider Operational team to support the business in its Contractual delivery.
We are looking for a driven individual to add expertise and dimension to the team at the Hospital. The individual will be able to demonstrate flexibility and efficiency in responding to a changing workload and business imperatives while able to establish excellent working relationships within the existing team and clients alike. Experience within a contractual, KPI-driven environment and exposure to a hospital PFI environment a pre-requisite.
The ideal candidate will have an M&E or construction background and previous experience of end to end project management, being responsible for development through to completion.
What will you deliver?
- Full Profit & Loss responsibility for your delivered projects & life cycle works
- Build and sustain strong relationship with relevant stakeholders (Trust / SPV) at management level to ensure the continuation and growth of the pipeline for the foreseeable future
- Support the wider Project, Life cycle and operational teams to ensure all work is carried out on time & to budget
- Manage the team and ensure that there is continuity of service during staff absences/holidays
- Ensure on time delivery and margin optimisation is achieved for all projects
- Support all phases of the project, from initial request to close out, to meet all contractual requirements
- Support the Lead PM with processes and governance across the site which will make the contract a Centre of Excellence across the business area
- Continually refining the project delivery model to ensure the right resources and approach is deployed and optimised for each project
- Make sure project risks are identified and managed through effective mitigation measures. Manage the implementation of designated projects. Ensure the project plan is maintained from inception to completion
- Monitoring and communicating project financial performance and administration to the Lead PM so that you can review targets against budget
- Oversee and support your team to co-ordinate operatives, suppliers in a planned and controlled manner ensuring efficiency and minimising costs
- Implement and comply with Equans policies and procedures, all legal requirements and best practice within Equans Group's including regular safety inspections within the allocated business area
- Detailed discussions with Trust staff and careful planning are required to ensure that works can proceed with the minimum of disruption to building users
- Ensure as necessary, all drawings, specifications and tender documents are prepared. Must adhere to requirements to be compliant with all statutory requirements including Health and safety
- Check and comment on designs and specifications provided by consultants for larger capital projects
- Monitor working procedures and performance of suppliers with particular regard to health and safety. Liaise closely with Technical Services, and Estates Maintenance Managers to assist with monitoring and performance measurement
- Responsible for undertaking work in any other building/property/location as required

- Proven background in FM, maintenance delivery, and the PFI environment

- Good organizational skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
- Experience of Microsoft Office software essential, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Project
- Considerable experience operating in the public and/or private sector with a demonstrable track record of directly managing small works within a large and complex estate is essential
This role includes a DBS Basic check therefore ability to pass is essential.

Maintenance Assistant
Equans is looking for a Maintenance Assistant on a permanent basis for our Lancashire Schools’ contract. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview:
Responsible for the Completion of PPM in the timescales produced. File all assigned PPM’s onsite in the correct location. Assist the technical team with completion of issues as and when required.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Organise, manage and monitor PPM’s
2. Rectify corrective works raised on the completed PPM’s
3. Assist the technical team with issues across the sites when required
4. Carry out minor routine maintenance tasks in accordance with the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programme, including pre-planned maintenance tasks during the school holidays.
5. Monitor and adjust as necessary to ensure plant and associated systems perform within set limits.
6. Carry out internal and external routine inspections of the school premises.
7. Assist in the preparation of reports. Maintain and update records as appropriate.
8. May be needed for the support of out of hours activities.
9. Ensure adequate supplies and other consumable items are available for job completion.
10. Ensure the correct procedures are followed for the safe and efficient handling of waste.
11. Respond in a safe manner to the effects of adverse weather conditions.
12. Carry out duties in accordance with safe working practices within statutory, Company and recommended guidelines.
13. Report any issues to the Supervisor and make recommendations on improving the service.
14. Undertake training as necessary to maintain the requirements of the service.

Mechanical Engineer
Equans is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
The post holder will very much be involved with the maintenance and minor works service covering a wide and varied range of mechanical equipment servicing large industrial units such as dual fired boilers and heating and ventilation distribution equipment.
What will you deliver?
- Undertake fault finding on complex medical gas systems, MTHW /LTHW pressure heating water systems, critical systems and equipment and pressurised steam systems
- Using cause effect analysis and detailed examination to gain a solution and use of all relevant drawings and schematics
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance, inspections, commissioning and testing in accordance with published procedures, completing all report sheets and test certificates as necessary and mark up any drawing alterations
- Use of all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works ensuring full compliance with EQUANS Guidelines and Controls e.g. Risk Assessment, Site Safety, Fire Safety, Control of Infection and Hazardous Substances
- Work involves the use of analytical test devices, specialist tools, workshop fixed equipment, portable electrical equipment, welding equipment, emergency generators, medical gas equipment (patient use) suction units, geared drives

Mobile Electrician
Equans is looking for a Mobile Electrician to join our team. You will be based at Woodland View Hospital in Irvine 3 days per week and the remaining two will be based at Stobhill Hospital in Glasgow. We are looking for a skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will possess strong electrical maintenance knowledge and have completed a recognised apprenticeship. The role focuses on maintaining the safe and continuous operation of electrical supplies, building systems, plant, and equipment. You will be a part of a flexible maintenance team, ensuring the smooth operation of critical hospital systems in areas such as operating theatres, renal, and endoscopy departments.
What will you deliver?
- Adhere to Equans' safe operation standards, including working with Low Voltage, Mechanical, Pressure, Water, Medical Gas, and Confined Spaces systems.
- Follow the Scottish Health Technical Memoranda (SHTMs) and other statutory compliance requirements.
- Perform both planned and reactive electrical maintenance tasks, ensuring timely resolution of issues to avoid contractual penalties.
- Create Method Statements and Risk Assessments for issuing Permits-to-Work.
- Perform tasks such as electrical system maintenance, emergency lighting checks, fire alarm tests, water and medical gas system upkeep, and pressure system maintenance.
- Complete all necessary reports, test certificates, and Task Assessment sheets both electronically and in hard copy.
- Work collaboratively with the Facilities Team Leader, assisting with equipment failures and organising the supply of goods/services as required.
- Participate in overtime work and an on-call rota to support maintenance activities.
- Travel to other sites as needed and liaise professionally with clients, particularly NHS personnel.
