EQUANS are looking for a Senior Building Surveyor to join our team in Grimsby, this is a full time permanent role with a salary between £35,000 – £40,000 depending on skills and experience.
The Professional Services Team have a fantastic opportunity to join their multi-disciplinary design consultancy as a Senior Building Surveyor assisting with the specification, design detailing and management of property construction projects.
In return we are looking for someone with experience delivering refurbishment and essential maintenance. You will be confident working with contractors on site and have excellent problem solving skills. For the right candidate we would also consider a Building Surveyor who is keen to progress in their role.
What will you deliver?
- Development of specifications, designs and technical support to building construction projects. Ensuring all technical information provided is accurate to legislative standards, ACoPs and best practice.
- To develop briefs, specifications, scopes of work or any other technical information to contribute to the delivery of projects, procurement and Client’s briefings.
- To manage the delivery of minor works and property construction projects utilising the project management process and principals within EQUANS.
- To issue works orders ensuring compliance with legislative, contractual and workmanship requirements including the briefing and commissioning of all consultants and clients.
- Provide support, advice and guidance to other members of the team to contribute to the successful delivery of projects.
- To prepare option appraisals with recommendations, feasibility studies, estimates and the production of technical reports as required. Also to ensure that value is added to the work of the Section through innovation and creativity.
- To assist with directing and monitoring construction works to include contract administration, variations, project costs and final accounts as appropriate, evaluating and determining appropriate actions where problems occur and report these to the client.
- To create, as part of their development, specifications for tenders and to contribute to the procurement process to include evaluations and awards of contracts, ensuring Value for Money (VfM) is delivered without compromise to quality of the service/works completed.
- To support the Manager in allocation of works, reviewing progress and keeping projects to the clients timeline and budget constraints.

Who are we looking for?
- Provide a full range of technical duties, carrying out surveys of properties and preparing 2D/3D architectural drawings, commissioning specialist support through the Professional Services team where required eg: structural, asbestos etc.
- Experience in a building design and/or maintenance environment with experience in a variety of property construction projects.
- Experience of contract administration, including knowledge of building construction, maintenance and refurbishment techniques are required.
- Experience of Building Regulations and planning applications.
- Experience of CDM Regulations 2015.
- Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets and other documentation.
- HNC Building Technology or a related qualification along with significant working experience in the construction industry within a similar field.
- Full UK driving license
