Quantity Surveyor


EQUANS are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to be based in the North West. This is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary up to £55,000, car allowance, bonus and benefits package.

General Overview

To take responsibility, ownership and accountability of the successful management and control all aspects of the commercial / financial and contractual elements of the designated project in order to control and maximise the company’s profitability, protect the companies legal and contractual obligations under the contract and to manage proactively the control of all commercial issues.  This is to include ensuring applications and valuations are completed in line with the contract terms and also ensuring sub-contractors receive prompt payment and are procured in line with our contractual obligations and Commitments to Subcontractors.  In addition, ensuring cost reports and the like are managed, completed on time and monitored.  To understand, implement and adhere to the company SHEQ policy/strategy.

Key Accountabilities

  • Control all expenditure
  • Reconcile cost/value reports and profit forecasts
  • To assist the Contract Manager with pre-start planning and programming
  • Continual use of the sub-contract data base
  • Sub-contract procurement and commercial management
  • Management and control of sub-contract accounts and variation accounts
  • Change management control
  • Assisting and liaising with the buyers on materials procurement and buying opportunities
  • To manage the day to day cost control, monitoring and reporting
  • Develop an understanding of the designated contract, specification and pricing ensuring compliance with conditions throughout
  • Assist the Contract Manager with subcontractor selection and ensure the chosen subcontractor has the appropriate skill set and capability to deliver the works. Place the appropriate order and all required information to carry out their work
  • Liaise with the Contract Manager over contractual issues and take action as required
  • Measure progress, submit valuations, submit final accounts and retention release and monitor receipt of payment in a timely manner in accordance with the contracts
  • Process subcontractor requests for payment
  • Completing a monthly cost / valuation report and cash flow for the designated projects
  • Where appropriate, assist with estimates and negotiations for future projects or phases
  • Attend project and company related meetings
  • Ensure the company is neither compromised nor disadvantaged by an contractual or financial arrangement
  • Manage the costs on a project to ensure both the company and the client is fully advised of the cost situation
  • Sufficiently manage the financial aspects of the project to ensure the correct safety equipment is used at all times
  • Be responsible for your safety and others around you
  • Ensure timely cash flow management for the Client and the group, and the supply change
  • Assisting the development and training of trainee and assistant surveyors
  • Maintain and develop professional relationships with the Client, to help future business development
  • Any other reasonable management request

Who are we looking for?

Experience

  • Industry experience in the role of a Quantity Surveyor within a Social Housing environment
  • Post graduate experience within a surveying position reporting to either a Senior Surveyor or a Commercial Manager
  • Experience of social housing, including responsive repairs, void refurbishments, compliancy services and planned maintenance works

  • Carry out various Roofing tasks to a high standard as instructed by the company including:
    • Tiled Roofs
    • Slated Roofs
    • Flat Roofs
    • Leadwork – flashings etc
    • Pointing Valleys and verges

    • Chimneys and pots
    • Working Safely at Height

Gas Engineer


EQUANS are recruiting for a Gas Engineer to be based in Oldham. This is a permanent full-time role working 37 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £37,793, van & fuel card and benefits package. (This will rise to £41,305.67 from 1st April 2025)

General Overview

To carry out the duties as a Gas Engineer in accordance with Statutory Regulations, Company policies and Procedures.  To assist the Team in producing a quality product meeting the requirements of the contract and in a safe manner.  Adhere to all requirements set by SHEQ team, policy, and strategy.

Ability to carry out servicing of gas appliances including boilers, fires, and cookers in a timely and safe manor. To carry out general breakdowns and have the ability diagnose and repair to achieve 1st time fix.  Be part of an on-call Rota to cover Out of Hours breakdowns as required.

  • Carry out work in a safe manor on Servicing, breakdowns and installs.

EQUANS is looking for a Multi Skilled Trade Operative to join our team in Birmingham. This is a full-time role. On offer is a competitive salary, and benefits package.

What will you deliver? 

Accountabilities

  • Supporting effective team and project management, including project completion timelines, project costs and profitability, and ensuring client needs are met
  • Delivering technical reports and energy audits as part of the solution development process
  • Proactively building client relationships to maintain a strong repeatable pipeline

Operations and Solutions Achievement - This is a highly technical position requiring engineering thinking and problem solving to a high degree. The role also requires complex analytical and commercial thinking and will support the development of the client deliverables to agreed timescales and quality standards.

  • Undertaking energy audit activities, development, engineering, and conceptual design of energy projects
  • Develop complex and dynamic numerical models of engineering and commercial aspects of energy project feasibility
  • Ensure compliance with EQUANS quality assurance processes including peer and management review
  • Communicate with all stakeholders to brief on submissions as they progress
  • Lead in delivering profitability and revenue delivery targets for each engagement through proactive time management and efficiency in delivery
  • Articulate the key risks and benefits of the opportunity to key stakeholders
  • Working with commercial and finance teams to develop profitable and compelling outcomes
  • Providing subject matter expertise and continuity of support to the energy and carbon solution projects that are handed over to the divisional projects team

Sales Achievement – develop low carbon and energy solutions opportunities through the sales process, including:

  • Actively maintain a strong knowledge on EQUANS, industry, client, sector and competitor trends
  • Providing thought leadership on behalf of EQUANS to our clients and represent EQUANS at events
  • Work with a variety of internal teams (Sustainable FM, Digital & Energy Services, Places & Communities) to research and analyse prospective opportunities, markets, and propositions
  • Lead the development of collateral, case studies and other sales materials
  • Participate in marketing campaigns and events

Who are we looking for? 

 

Deep technical knowledge of implementing energy solutions, and a firm understanding of building, commercial or industrial and manufacturing engineering services

  • Energy related engineering or applied science degree
  • Demonstrated technical and commercial modelling depth in two or more disciplines decarbonisation of heat,
  • Renewable energy, o energy management and retrofit, industrial energy management & energy driven BMS, controls and analytics
  • Net zero carbon programme delivery
  • Confident and articulate in presenting technical and commercial cases to customers at management/decision maker level

Shift Maintenance Electrician

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Maintenance Electrician to join our maintenance team working at a prestigious central government building in Westminster. This is a permanent shift-based role working 38.5 hours per week on a rolling rota of 4 shifts on, 4 shifts off - DAY SHIFTS ONLY from 07:00 to 19:00. 

The role:

  • Reporting to the M&E Shift Supervisor
  • To maintain all buildings and plant to the required levels as set out by management
  • Carry out a range of building service tasks, mainly electrical and mechanical planned and reactive works
  • To ensure prompt and accurate completion of associated paperwork, recording recommendations and/or material requirements accordingly
  • To make recommendations of replacement parts and materials to ensure the highest levels of equipment and building availability.
  • To oversee specialist sub-contractors
  • To work to the highest standard and in full compliance with statutory legislation
  • To cover for other technicians as necessary in various buildings, including participation in a call out work rota
  • Working 38.5 hours per week on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern of days only – 07:00 to 19:00


The person:

  • Must hold a recognised Electrical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant Electrical discipline with suitable industry experience; mechanical qualification/experience is a bonus
  • C&G 2391 Testing & Inspection and BS7671 qualifications (or equivalent) are desirable
  • Must be appointed in at least 1 AP/CP role, and attend any training as necessary to maintain this
  • Desirable to have experience of building services/maintenance/facilities management 
  • Will be able to demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as within a team with a proactive, flexible, can-do attitude
  • Employment in this post is dependent upon obtaining security clearance; this requires 5 years’ residency in the UK and a current passport.

Vanuit onze vestiging in Den Haag doet Equans het onderhoud en beheer aan alle gebouwgebonden technische installaties bij diverse (grote en kleine) klanten in de utiliteitssector. De werkzaamheden vinden plaats bij onze klanten in de regio, denk daarbij aan kantoren, gemeenten, scholen, distributiecentra, ziekenhuizen en productiebedrijven.

Dit ga je doen als Servicetechnicus Werktuigbouwkunde

In deze functie werk je o.a. aan vervangingsvraagstukken, verduurzamingsprojecten en storingen welke voortvloeien uit het contract. Daarom heb je een brede interesse in de techniek, hou je van aanpakken en draag je zorg voor een veilige werkomgeving.

Als Servicetechnicus Werktuigbouwkunde ben jij een belangrijke schakel in het contact met onze klant en houd jij je bezig met de onderhoudswerkzaamheden aan gebouw gebonden. (werktuigbouwkundige) installaties. Jij bent dé specialist die kan meedenken en schakelt snel. Samen met jouw collega’s, professionals binnen verschillende disciplines, vorm je een hecht team.

Jouw werkzaamheden bestaan o.a. uit:

  • het uitvoeren van gepland onderhoud aan HVAC installaties
  • het oplossen van storingen aan complexe- en reguliere installaties
  • door jouw kennis van de installaties ken je de installaties van top tot teen en ben je in staat om zelfstandig afwijkingen te signaleren en oplossingen aan te dragen
  • zorgdragen voor de juiste materialen en gereedschappen, zodat je optimaal kunt werken
  • het maken van een heldere rapportage van de uitgevoerde werkzaamheden

Dit breng je mee

  • een afgeronde MBO opleiding richting Werktuigbouwkunde of vergelijkbaar
  • enkele jaren ervaring als servicetechnicus binnen de utiliteit
  • communicatief ben je zeer vaardig en je hebt de ambitie om je te blijven ontwikkelen in het vakgebied
  • je bent effectief met het indelen van je eigen werk

Dit ga je doen als monteur elektrotechniek

Als monteur elektrotechniek zul je te maken krijgen met onderhouds- en renovatieprojecten. Deze werkzaamheden zijn, onder andere, het voeren van onderhoudsprojecten van alle panden, kantoren en werkplaatsen. Het is bepaald geen kleine opdracht, maar inmiddels kunnen de eerste successen worden genoteerd.
