Operations Manager

Equans Embedded Energy operate multiple customer sites with large-scale embedded energy capacity across the UK, providing specialist management of onsite generation for industrial processes and the ability to export to the Grid. We combine multiple technologies to meet our customers’ specific needs, and provide design, build, operate and maintenance services. Our skills and expertise can help industrial businesses to achieve their carbon reduction goals.

We are experts in many technologies, including combined heat and power (CHP), biomass, and energy from waste. By locating generation on customers’ sites we provide our customers with industry leading safety management, reduced energy costs and carbon footprint and assured energy security for their operational needs.

Currently we have an opportunity for an Operations Manager to oversee a generating station in Leeds  and will involve working with and improving the site systems as well as having responsibility for the site operations and maintenance activities on a day-to-day basis. The Operations Manager will also produce weekly documentation to report on KPI’s to the customer and manage the day-to-day budgetary spend.

Key activities

The individual should be able to lead, think logically and respond quickly and confidently to problems with minimum supervision and have the ability to lead and supervise the team employed on site.

The Operations Manager will be a self-motivated, flexible individual, able to work alone, lead others and use initiative and be willing to accept responsibility to deliver the companies requirements whilst maintaining a good relationship with the customer to meet their demands and KPI’s associated with the O&M contract.

  • Operating the plant to ensure compliance with appropriate safety and environmental standards, and statutory requirements including BG01/BG04, HTM’s.
  • Ensure plant-related routine duties and plant performance, availability and reliability are maintained to a high level.
  • Managing the legislative maintenance activities on-site, including ensuring that PSSR inspection requirements are undertaken, functional Safety tests are carried out, Legionella management, and ensure that statutory routines are programmed and carried out in line with the maintenance plan.
  • Application of the safe systems of work and undertake the role of Location Manager within Embedded Energy Safety rules.
  • Planning, organizing and supervising maintenance activities utilising the CMMS.
  • General day-to-day management of the operations and maintenance engineers on site.
  • Leading the site engineers for maintenance, project work and outage preparation activities.
  • Responsibility for producing weekly reports and reporting to EQUANS customer.
  • Ensure contract data and reports are compiled to the required standard, are retained and managed in a suitable electronic document management system or equivalent.
  • Responsibility for producing and maintaining identified site documentation and procedures
  • Managing safety and any emergency response plans in line with EQUANS and the end users policies.
  • Liaising with internal and external customers.
  • Maintain a professional attitude, an appropriate level of communication and courteous behavior to all colleagues, host site personnel, contractors, and visitors to the Generating Station.
  • Managing the procurement of spares and consumables in line with the budget.

Skills, qualifications & experience

 

  • Minimum HNC/HND or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline (preferably Degree.)
  • Industrial Steam Boiler operations and maintenance experience (BOAS desirable)
  • NEBOSH Cert, IOSH Managing safely or similar safety qualification (desirable)
  • 18th Edition qualifications (desirable)
  • Knowledge of Steam Boiler, Boiler chemistry and Water Treatment Plant
  • Knowledge of chilled water system including evaporating cooling towers
  • Knowledge of Gas fired CHP engines
  • Knowledge of rotating plant (Pumps, Motors and Compressors)
  • Knowledge of Pressure Systems Safety Rules and functional safety standards

Mobile Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mobile Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our facilities team working on our Metropolitan Police South East London FM contract based at Sutton police station and covering Bromley and Lewisham police stations, as required.  This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 0800 to 1700.

Key activities:

  • Reporting to the M&E Supervisor
  • To provide the safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of M&E plant and equipment across MET Police South East London sites 
  • To carry out the installation of new M&E equipment as required i.e. minor new works, refurbishment and capital works replacement programme
  • Investigate, trouble shoot and rectify defects for all M&E systems and associated plant / components 
  • Oversee/escort any specialist contractor works as required
  • Proactive identification of defects and faults outside of specialisation and escalate accordingly
  • Ensure prompt and accurate completion of all associated paperwork 
  • Working 40 hours per week from 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, with participation in the on call rota and out of normal working hours activity.

Skills & qualifications:

  • Must hold a recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience
  • Must be able to undertake unsupervised non-routine maintenance and complex repair/installation work
  • Good communication skills and customer focused with a proactive, flexible, can-do approach
  • Must be able to produce technical/incident reports
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures

HV ICP Manager

We have a great opportunity for a HV ICP Manager to work on a street lighting and highways lighting projects, specialising in the maintenance, installation, and repair of LED lighting assets across various locations in the UK.

The ideal candidate will  manage the implementation of high-voltage electrical frameworks for an Independent Connection Provider (ICP); as part of our wider projects.

Key Responsibilities:

High Voltage Accreditation:

  • Lead the process of obtaining High Voltage accreditation by meeting the requirements set by relevant authorities and standards
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 standards for high voltage testing and calibration.
  • Prepare and submit necessary documentation for accreditation          

NERS Accreditation Maintenance:

  • Maintain NERS accreditation by adhering to the scheme's requirements and undergoing regular audits
  • Implement and monitor quality management systems to ensure ongoing compliance with NERS standards
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of work procedures and risk assessments.

ICP Development:

  • Develop and implement strategies to establish the company as an Independent Connection Provider (ICP)
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all high voltage projects comply with industry standards and client specifications.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance programs to ensure the highest standards of work.
  • Conduct internal audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians in high voltage procedures and safety protocols.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for high voltage installations, testing, and maintenance.

Skills, qualifications & experience

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Energy, or a related field.
  • Solid experience in managing HV electrical distribution systems, preferably in an ICP environment or with utilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of HV electrical systems, network design, and regulatory requirements (e.g. NERS, IEC, ENA, Ofgem).
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and best practices, particularly in high-voltage environments.
  • Proven experience in managing and delivering large-scale projects in compliance with technical specifications and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience in working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).

Part Time Morning Cleaner

Equans is looking for a Part time Morning Cleaner to join our team in Chelmsford Crown Court, CM1 1NT, on a permanent basis working 15 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £11.79 per hour and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

As the on-site Cleaner, you’ll keep the building clean and tidy to the highest standard of hygiene, health and safety whilst maintaining a professional manner with all members of staff and general public.

Shift Maintenance Electrician

Equans is a renowned energies & services contractor and a proud member of the Bouygues global industrial group. Our expertise spans the design, construction, and maintenance of buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Maintenance Electrician to join our maintenance team working at a prestigious central government building in Westminster. This is a permanent shift-based role working 38.5 hours per week on a rolling rota of 4 shifts on, 4 shifts off - DAY SHIFTS ONLY from 07:00 to 19:00. 

The role:

  • Reporting to the M&E Shift Supervisor
  • To maintain all buildings and plant to the required levels as set out by management
  • Carry out a range of building service tasks, mainly electrical and mechanical planned and reactive works
  • To ensure prompt and accurate completion of associated paperwork, recording recommendations and/or material requirements accordingly
  • To make recommendations of replacement parts and materials to ensure the highest levels of equipment and building availability.
  • To oversee specialist sub-contractors
  • To work to the highest standard and in full compliance with statutory legislation
  • To cover for other technicians as necessary in various buildings, including participation in a call out work rota
  • Working 38.5 hours per week on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern of days only – 07:00 to 19:00


The person:

  • Must hold a recognised Electrical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant Electrical discipline with suitable industry experience; mechanical qualification/experience is a bonus
  • C&G 2391 Testing & Inspection and BS7671 qualifications (or equivalent) are desirable
  • Must be appointed in at least 1 AP/CP role, and attend any training as necessary to maintain this
  • Desirable to have experience of building services/maintenance/facilities management 
  • Will be able to demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as within a team with a proactive, flexible, can-do attitude
  • Employment in this post is dependent upon obtaining security clearance; this requires 5 years’ residency in the UK and a current British or EU passport.

Wat ga je doen als Inbedrijfsteller / Installatieverantwoordelijke?

  • Zelfstandig inbedrijfstellen van complexe installaties en besturingssystemen.

  • Opstellen van testplannen en uitvoeren van metingen.

We zijn betrokken bij de opwekking van duurzame energie, het openbaar vervoer en de uitbreiding van netwerken voor regionale netbeheerders. Het is een ambitieus team dat landelijk opereert vanuit Dordrecht en Zaandam.

Dit breng je mee:

  • Mbo-niveau 4 opleiding in Elektrotechniek of Energietechniek.
  • STIPEL NEN3140 VP en NEN3840 certificaat of gelijkwaardig.
  • Minimaal 5 jaar werkervaring in inbedrijfstelling, werkverantwoordelijke (IV), commissioning engineer LS/MS/HS of een vergelijkbare rol.
  • Ervaring met complexe elektrische installaties en kennis van hoogspanningsinstallaties.
  • Goede beheersing van Nederlands en Engels.
  • Geldig VCA-VOL certificaat.
  • Bereidheid om cursussen te volgen en certificaten te behalen.

Au sein d'une équipe travaux, vous réaliserez des installations de solutions de sureté (vidéoprotection, anti-intrusion, contrôle d'accès, interphonie).

Vos missions :

  • Préparer techniquement les interventions à réaliser (inventaire matériel, lecture de plans) ;
  • Tirer les câbles en intérieur ou extérieur ;
  • Raccordement courants faibles (prises RJ45, disjoncteurs, borniers) ;
  • Installer les équipements de vidéoprotection (caméras, serveurs), matériel réseaux (switch Ethernet, antennes), contrôle d’accès (lecteurs badges, UTL, ventouses) ;
  • Effectuer les essais, les réglages, et vérifier la fonctionnalité des équipements ;
  • Assurer les mesures et recettes des réseaux raccordés ;
  • Rédiger des rapports décrivant les interventions réalisées, et fiches d’auto contrôle.

Vous travaillerez dans un environnement extérieur et en hauteur. Des déplacements fréquents sur la région Nouvelle Aquitaine seront à prévoir.

Votre profil :

De formation CAP en Electrotechnique/Electronique, vous justifiez d’une expérience de 1 à 3 ans en travaux courants faibles, et plus particulièrement vous avez des connaissances dans le domaine de la sureté (vidéoprotection, contrôle d’accès, anti-intrusion).

Orienté technique et service client, vous faites preuve d'autonomie, d’analyse et d’initiative. Votre curiosité sur les nouvelles technologies, votre rigueur, votre aisance et votre relationnel sont les qualités nécessaires au poste. Vous avez le goût du travail en équipe.

Des connaissances en raccordement et mesures fibre optique seraient un plus.

Requis : Permis B, habilitation électrique, travaux en hauteur (nacelle)
