Job overview
The EC&I Engineer will be responsible for the reliable and continual operation of the plant, including steam boilers, water treatment plant steam compressor and air cooled condensers, and ancillary equipment in line with site load requirements, ensuring the safe operation, and performance of the assets.
Key activities
- Ensure low levels of breakdowns caused by EC&I component failure
- Competent Person High Voltage beneficial
- Deputise for Regional Operations Manager as required.
- Supervision of the site operation & maintenance team.
- Lead the organisation of complex maintenance tasks.
- Managing of work parties that may include colleagues.
- Ensures compliance with relevant legislation and codes of practice to ensure safe operation of plant.
- Maintain records of work and site technical library.
- Audit of site stocks.
- Responsible for all Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Systems on site.
- Plant availability is high as reactive maintenance is carried out in a thorough and timely manner.
- Planned outages run smoothly, and breakdown time is minimised through well controlled and available spare parts
- Audits run smoothly through high levels of record keeping of both maintenance activities and any safety documents produced.
- Safety levels on site are maintained to a high standard through well controlled work on EC&I systems and timely reaction to unsafe situations.
- EC&I work is thorough and complete due to well-kept and up to date schematics, SOPs and manuals.
- Upkeep of site Computerised Maintenance Management System.
Skills, qualifications & experience
- Recognised Electrical/Controls and Instrumentation specific qualification, HNC/BTEC
- City and Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Computer literacy and basic IT skills
- Proven Operational & Maintenance experience of Utility Plant including Generation Equipment
- Project Engineering experience
- Management of Contractors
- Previous experience in a customer focused environment
- Experience with Low Voltage systems as an Authorised Person. (SAP)
- Fault finding on complex systems.
- Use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems

What will you deliver?
As the on-site Cleaner, you’ll keep the building clean and tidy to the highest standard of hygiene, health and safety whilst maintaining a professional manner with all members of staff and general public.

Cleaning Team Leader
Equans is looking for a Cleaning Team Leader to join our team in Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, Hampshire, PO6 3LY on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 34 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £28,099 per annum and benefits package.

Operations Manager-Mechanical
Equans is looking for an Operations Manager-Mechanical to join our team at North Middlesex University Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus, and benefits package.
The post holder will be responsible for the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of hospital healthcare engineering systems and services and the promotion of good engineering practices, whilst ensuring compliance to statutory and healthcare engineering.
Management of resources through the use of the Maximo databases, financial management through to invoicing. Estates Department compliance reporting systems, collation of estates information, management of specialist service providers, asset database, Insurance registers and scheduling of planned preventative maintenance in conjunction with and support of the Estates management team.
What will you deliver?
- Support the Estates Management in the provision of a 24hr maintenance Service within the Portsmouth Hospital Trust for the service provider
- Oversee the day to day management of the healthcare engineering systems under your control, ensuring all contractual and legislative Planned and Reactive Maintenance tasks are completed on time and to a high standard
- To provide technical support in resolving complex and multifaceted issues with regard to the Estate
- Monitor manage equipment maintenance records / service reports to ensure any follow on action is completed within promptly and recorded within the CAFM system and associated documentation, ensuring site document control process is followed for the healthcare engineering systems under your control
- Manage and oversee external sub-contractors and professionals
- Supervise and oversee the works conducted on healthcare engineering systems designated to you ensuring compliance with Good Industry Practice and HTM standards
- Develop and maintain close relationships and liaison with other stakeholders; i.e. Engineering Manager, Senior Operations manager, Head of Projects and Estates, site delivery team
- Proactively assist in the ongoing development and day-to say delivery of a life-cycle plan, providing technical and managerial support as required
- Implementation, action the day to day monitoring, and maintenance of risk management systems to ensure there is no uncontrolled clinical impact
- To work within the quality (ISO 9001) system for the Estates Department

Lifecycle Project Manager
Equans is looking for a Lifecycle Project Manager to join our team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance and benefits package.
As part of the Project Management team you will take full accountability for the delivery of Variations and Life Cycle projects across the PFI site.
What will you deliver?
- Manage the P&L and H&S for your projects from concept to completion with the support from the Lead PM and Head of Projects
- Full Profit & Loss responsibility for your delivered projects & life cycle works
- Build and sustain strong relationship with relevant stakeholders (Trust / SPV) at management level to ensure the continuation and growth of the pipeline for the foreseeable future

- Manage the team and ensure that there is continuity of service during staff absences/holidays

Who are you?
- Proven background in FM, maintenance delivery, and the PFI environment
- A strong Project Manager, who will have a proven track record working in Healthcare and delivering projects in a live environment
- Strong Commercial awareness will be needed to manage and flow Supplier Contracts downstream
- Ability to show understanding of Local Authority legislation, Planning Applications, Fire and Building Regulations Approvals
- A sound knowledge of building and engineering services design and associated British Standards

Multiskilled Shift Engineer
Equans is looking for a Multi-skilled Shift Engineer to join our team in ICR Sutton. This is a full-time role. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
What will you deliver?
• Ensure all planned preventive maintenance (PPM) is carried out timely and accurately using PDA and CAFM systems.
• Manage reactive and breakdown tasks proactively, reporting plant faults and issuing quotations as needed.
• Maintain safety compliance by conducting Point of Work Risk Assessments and operating within Permit to Work and SHEQ guidelines.
• Supervise subcontractors, maintain plant rooms to high standards, and participate in the call-out on-call rota with 12-hour shift work (4 on/4 off).

Multi-Trade Technician

What will you deliver?
• Carry out allocated planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks safely and on schedule, including fire door, water hygiene (L8), and emergency lighting checks.

Electrician (Multi Skilled)
EQUANS are recruiting for an Electrician (Multi Skilled) to be based in Manchester. This is a permanent full-time role working 37 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview
To carry out the duties as an Electrician in accordance with Statutory Regulations, Company policies and Procedures. To assist the Team in producing a quality product meeting the requirements of the contract and in a safe manner. Adhere to all requirements set by SHEQ team, policy, and strategy.
Key Accountabilities
- Carry out various Electrical tasks to a high standard as instructed by the company including:
- Replacement of Consumer units.
- Installing final sub-circuit wiring.
- Fault finding
- Replacement of final circuit accessories (sockets light switches etc).
- Replacement of extractor fans in bathrooms and toilets.
- Replacement of light fittings in line with manufactures instructions.
- Testing in line with current edition of wiring regulations (BS.7671)
- Fault finding and carrying out remedial works in accordance with current regulations.
- Be competent in completing all relevant and current certification for example (EICR EIC and Minor works)
- Assist with the adherence to the Company quality standards including:
- Compliance with specification
- Compliance with materials / workmanship schedules
- High quality Customer Care must always act in a polite and professional manor.
- Maintain and care for all company tools.
- 1st time fix to be achieved wherever possible.
- To use appropriate safety equipment
- To wear appropriate clothing / uniform
- To ensure areas of work are left clean and tidy at the end of the day.
- To be responsible for and take due care of the company van in accordance with the company car policy.
- To be responsible for holding keys for communal entrances, meter cupboards and allow access where appropriate.
