General overview
To undertake and coordinate the activities of the team and others in carrying out all PPM and reactive repairs as necessary.
Responsible for minor installations and maintenance of site electro-mechanical systems including Compressed Air, Steam, Pressure, Water and Gas ensuring that all equipment within responsibility and control is correctly maintained and repaired, maximising plant operational efficiency and the safety of all other personnel at all times.
Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, the Lead Technician will help manage the day-to-day Operations and Planned/Reactive maintenance activities, reporting directly to the regional operations manager. The role shall have responsibility for all routine PPM’s Reactive Faults and Statutory compliance maintenance, including keeping all site documentation with regards to compliance and PPM up to date.
Key activities
- Direct point of contact with the customer
- Shall provide ad-hoc and emergency on-call rota cover
- Diagnose and repair faults on systems and plant including basic mechanical and electrical fault finding
- Supervise and deliver preventative, predictive and emergency maintenance work in order to meet plant reliability and performance targets
- Supervise and support others in fault diagnosis and repairs as necessary always ensuring a high level of General Safety
- Create and maintain high quality records and reports of maintenance activities to deliver useful plant history data which complies with all relevant statutory requirements
- Responsible for all record keeping, control of sub-contractors and raising and issuing of safety documentation as required
- Ability to work in a customer focused environment where quality and image is very important
- Ensure that any difficulties encountered on engineering activities are reported to the Regional Operations Manager
- Ensure all record keeping functions are completed on a daily basis or as required
- Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standards of workmanship and safety
- Understanding of company procedures
- Good understanding and previous experience of application of EQUANS Safe Systems of Work / Safety Rules for LV, Mechanical systems including Confined Spaces and Hot Work management including authorisations & Permit to Work
- To evaluate performance and ensure the proper servicing and maintenance of equipment under contract to the company is carried out
- Undertakes the role with minimum supervision, focussing on the needs of customers and effectively following quality processes and procedures
- Pro-active approach to SHEQ and identifying areas for improvement
Skills, qualifications & experience
- Knowledge and preferably proven experience and delivery of FM Services
- Knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety legislation and its impact on day to day operations
- An understanding of the processes and systems required to develop and maintain a high standard of work quality
- Minimum of BTEC National Certificate/City and Guilds Level 3 or equivalent but preferred Higher National Certificate in a Mechanical craft discipline
- NVQ Level 3 in a craft discipline or equivalent
- Completed recognised relevant apprenticeship
- Proven related Experience in mechanical/electrical work
- A formal health and safety related qualification e.g. IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent would be beneficial but not mandatory

Apprentice Highways Operative

This will be based from our depot in Sittingbourne.
General overview
To work and train under supervision and to achieve an apprenticeship in Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative L2.
Key activities
1. Installation & Maintenance Support
- Assist Column installation crews on new installations and replacements
- Assist qualified electricians in the installation, repair, and maintenance of street lighting assets, including columns, lanterns, cabling, and control equipment.
- Support fault-finding activities and carry out basic electrical checks under supervision.
2. Safety Compliance
- Follow all safety policies, risk assessments, and method statements when working on highways and electrical systems.
- Use PPE correctly and promptly report hazards, near misses, or unsafe conditions.
3. Learning & Development
- Successfully complete all apprenticeship training, coursework, and on-the-job assessments within required timescales.
- Actively seek to increase knowledge of electrical principles, lighting technologies, and industry standards.
4. Worksite Preparation & Support
- Prepare tools, equipment, and materials needed for site tasks.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organised work areas and vehicles.

7. Quality & Standards
- Carry out tasks to the required technical and quality standards under the direction of a supervisor or qualified electrician.

Skills, qualifications & experience
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English, and Science – Grade 4/C or above.
- Willingness to work toward the NVQ Level 2 in Highway Electrical Systems apprenticeship standard.
- Willingness to obtain an ECS Apprentice Card.
- Full UK driving licence or working toward obtaining one

General overview
Working alongside experienced Electrical Technicians, Supervisors, Engineers, and Specialist Contractors, the apprentice will develop practical skills in electrical systems, solar PV technology, battery energy storage systems (where applicable), power distribution equipment, and monitoring systems. The role will combine structured apprenticeship training with on-site practical experience, providing a strong foundation for a career within the renewable energy sector.
The apprentice will be supported by experienced colleagues and mentors throughout their development and will have the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of sustainable energy solutions that support the UK’s transition to net zero.
Key Activities:
- Actively participate in apprenticeship training programmes and complete all required learning and development activities.
- Assist with the installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of solar PV systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Support Electrical Technicians with routine and reactive maintenance activities across solar farm sites.
- Learn how to safely isolate, inspect, fault-find, and repair electrical equipment under supervision.
- Assist in maintaining inverters, transformers, switchgear, cabling systems, and monitoring equipment.
- Learn to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, specifications, and manufacturers' instructions.
- Support the inspection and testing of electrical installations in accordance with industry regulations and company procedures.
- Assist with performance monitoring and troubleshooting activities to maximise solar farm generation output.
- Carry out routine site inspections and report defects, damage, or potential safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and site documentation.
- Ensure company tools, vehicles, equipment, and materials are maintained and used correctly.
- Follow all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) procedures and comply with safe systems of work.
- Develop an understanding of renewable energy technologies and industry best practices.
- Support the delivery of high-quality services to clients and stakeholders while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude towards learning, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
Skills, qualifications & experience:
- 4 GCSE’s at Grade 4 or above (or equivalents) including Maths, English and Science.

Apprentice Electrician
Equans are recruiting for an Apprentice Electrician to be based in Birmingham on a 48 month fixed term contract. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, and benefits package.
General Overview:
To achieve to become a fully trained Electrician to the standard laid down by the C.I.T.B. and Trade Unions and achieve the National Vocational Qualification NVQ3. The apprentice Electrician will be site based and expected to travel by their own means within the employers operating area. To understand, implement and adhere to Equans SHEQ requirements.

This role will be responsible for collating, validating and preparing PAS 2030:2023 compliance paperwork to Clients, Energy Suppliers and Accreditation Bodies on a weekly basis, operating within contractual deadlines to ensure compliance.
What will you deliver?
- Producing of all necessary paperwork associated with installation of Energy Efficiency measure in line with PAS 2030:2023 process
- Working closely with scheme Retrofit Coordinators ensuring PAS installation paperwork is provided in line with the main contract programmes
- Maintain a wide knowledge and understanding of the sector and pass this knowledge onto the wider regional team
- Provide compliance advice to regional delivery teams regarding energy efficiency measures
- To ensure that there are zero compliance failures resulting from poor and inaccurate submission information
- To ensure all Strategic Partner contractual deadlines are adhered to
- Engage with key supply chain partners to support the effective development and delivery of projects

Part Time Cleaner
Equans is looking for a Part time Cleaner to join our team in Plymouth Magistrates Court, St Andrews Road,PL1 2DP, on a permanent basis working 17 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £12.90 per hour and benefits package.

Monday - Thursday 08:00 - 11:30
Friday 14:00 - 17:00
What will you deliver?
As the on-site Cleaner, you’ll keep the building clean and tidy to the highest standard of hygiene, health and safety whilst maintaining a professional manner with all members of staff and general public.
For this role you must undergo BPSS level vetting. Part of this includes DBS clearance therefore ability to pass is essential.
