Authorising Engineer

Equans Data Centers are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Authorising Engineer (AE) in Electrical Engineering to oversee and ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards. The role involves providing expert guidance on safe electrical systems, reviewing designs, conducting audits, and authorising personnel to perform electrical work. 

What you will deliver:

  • Act as the designated Authorising Engineer for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Review, assess, and approve electrical designs and installations.
  • Provide route cause analysis of non-compliance incidents to minimize performance deductions.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents and failures involving engineering systems.
  • Conduct site audits, inspections, and assessments to ensure the safety and reliability of electrical systems.
  • Lead and manage training sessions for electrical engineers and technicians, focusing on safety and compliance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of electrical safety regulations, such as BS 7671, Electricity at Work Regulations, and others.
  • Issue Authorised Person (AP) certifications for individuals based on competence and training.
  • Provide expert advice on maintenance and operational procedures for electrical equipment.

 Who we are looking for:

  • Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field is desirable.
  • Significant experience in managing electrical systems in industrial, or critical infrastructure environments.
  • HV/LV Authorising Engineer certification or similar qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulations and safety standards (e.g., BS 7671, EAWR).
  • Proven ability to manage teams and provide guidance on safety-critical operations.
  • Experience of incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with critical power infrastructure and high voltage (HV) systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on safety and reliability.

Contract Administrator - part-time - *SITE BASED*

Equans is looking for a Contract Administrator - HR support to join our team on our Birmingham schools contract at Coleshill, Birmingham, B46 1JU  on a permanent basis. This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week, from 10:00 to 14:00, Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive part-time Contract Administrator to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast paced environment, has strong attention to detail, and enjoys supporting both operational and administrative functions. You will play a key part in ensuring compliance, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the wider team to deliver a high quality service. What will you deliver?

  • Organise and coordinate compliance training, ensuring all records are accurate and up to date

Apprentice Electrician

EQUANS is looking for an Apprentice Electrician to join our team in Leeds. This is a full-time role. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

To achieve to become a fully trained Electrician to the standard laid down by the C.I.T.B. and Trade Unions and achieve the National Vocational Qualification NVQ3. Project Manager

EQUANS are recruiting for a Project Manager to be based in Crewe. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, car allowance, bonus and benefits package.

General Overview

Equans deliver a comprehensive and quality service to our multi-sector Customers across the UK. We provide a 24/7 reactive/planned preventative maintenance service for technical building services and undertake some specialist Project work involving plant replacements and refurbishments etc.

The role involves providing, direction, development. This will require an experienced person with presence, commitment, exceptional management competencies and communication skills to ensure that the contracts financial budgets, quality, health & safety and operational commitments are met and exceeded.

This role will provide Financial / Commercial and general assistance to the Projects Team. The role will have an impact on the financial transparency, commercial stability and data quality allowing the account senior leadership team to consider informed transformational change.

Key Accountabilities

  • To oversee the Design, Estimation, Value for money, Delivery and handover of Capital improvement projects. Typical projects range from M&E infrastructure upgrades and building fabric life cycle repairs on large public sector properties across the Cheshire region.
  • Provide a safe and healthy environment and working conditions for all direct report employees.
  • Comply with all Company policies/procedures to ensure timely and effectively implementation.
  • Ensure contractual commitments are met in accordance with contract SLA’s and other requirements detailed within the contract documentation.
  • Ensure financial policies and processes are effectively communicated, implemented and monitored.
  • To be customer focused within all areas of operational activities and maximise relationships with clients.

  • Monitor and manage Project WIP/Debt to an acceptable level.
  • Oversee the administration of items relating to the costing of projects.
  • Develop new business and relationships.
  • Achieve financial budget targets set by the Head of Projects.
  • Compliance with and record keeping for Company ISO Quality Management Systems.
  • Control and monitor the performance of the specialist service provider and sub-contractors.
  • Minimising Company risk from a technical, financial or health and safety perspective by making appropriate checks in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the provision of extra works and ‘out of contract’ works proposals have the required authorisations before commencing and that they are produced in a timely manner, in line with contract requirements.
  • Managing costs and maximising profitability in line with the regional budget and the requirements of the contract.
  • To report and communicate project development.
  • Other reasonable activities as necessary

Who are we looking for?

 Qualifications or Required Experience

  • Proven and extensive experience within a similar role
  • Operational and technical experience with demonstrated potential ideally from a building services M&E background with appreciation of building fabric trades.
  • Ability to chair professional meetings
  • Technical expertise, qualifications or apprenticeship in a craft skill or engineering discipline would be an important pre-requisite of the role
  • Proven experience in Project Management of projects or work packages over the value of £1million.
  • Ability to plan and organise their work effectively to meet changing environments and needs
  • Proven track record to the successful delivery of multi task building services related projects
  • Ability to liaise with and supervise contractors
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and safe working practices
  • Demonstrable skills in dealing and working closely with internal and external customers and suppliers on complex and interrelated issues on an ongoing basis
  • To be able to communicate at all levels, with excellent written and oral skills
  • To be self-motivated and to be able to motivate others, to be reliable and to be able to act with responsibility
  • IT skills required with specific reference to the Microsoft suite of packages
  • Hold sufficient Health and Safety (CDM) experience that allows the effective running of projects. Holds or working towards NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • Must hold a minimum professional qualification in Project Management to HNC / HND, APMP or PRINCE2

Apprentice Multi Skilled Operative

EQUANS are recruiting for an Apprentice Multi Skilled Operative to be based in Leeds. This is an 24-month Apprenticeship working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview

The Apprentice Multi Skilled Operative supports the delivery of construction, refurbishment and maintenance projects by assisting experienced trades and site teams across a range of disciplines (e.g. basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, minor concrete and groundwork, basic M&E tasks).

Key Accountabilities

  • Learning and applying safe working practices on site in line with company procedures and UK legislation.
  • Undertaking supervised practical tasks to agreed quality, time and cost standards.
  • Progressing through an approved apprenticeship programme, completing off‑the‑job training and on‑the‑job assessments.
  • Supporting the site team in maintaining a clean, organised and compliant work environment.

    • Willingness and ability to enrol on and complete a recognised construction‑related apprenticeship (e.g. Level 2 or Level 3 in a relevant trade or building services discipline).
    • Basic literacy and numeracy skills sufficient to meet apprenticeship entry requirements (typically evidenced by GCSEs or equivalent, as required by the training provider).
    • Genuine interest in the construction industry and multi‑trade work.
    • Commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
    • Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team and ask for help when needed.
    • Reliability, punctuality and willingness to work in outdoor and site‑based environments.
