Equans is looking for an HR Advisor to join our team in Central Functions on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

The key purpose of the role is to deliver excellent HR service across our Central Functions; with particular focus on employee relations, employment life cycle, policy compliance, and line manager guidance / support.

The role requires effective collaboration with internal stakeholders across the business (e.g. Line Managers, L&D, Resourcing).

This role can be based at any UK location with additional travel across the UK required on a monthly basis 

What will you deliver?

General Duties

  • Supporting line managers in all people processes to ensure best practice and employee engagement is enhanced.
  • Provide remote and where necessary on site first and second line advice and guidance to managers.
  • Promote the corporate culture and values, incorporating this into all HR operational practices, policies and advice.
  • Influence and inform/coach managers to ensure that decisions are in line with company policy.
  • Driving the business performance in relation to the business Fundamentals.
  • Supporting the HR Business Partner in their duties to support the delivery of the HR strategy.

Employee Relations

  • Coach line managers to build capability and promote ownership for managing their people and embedding a servant leadership framework.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert and advise / support on grievance, investigation, disciplinary processes, including attendance at hearings as appropriate. 
  • Ensuring absence management is monitored in detail, agreeing plans to improve with line managers and supporting delivery.
  • Provide regular updates to HRBP on complex people management cases.

HR Advocate

  • Provide training that covers key areas of risk and targets identified shortfalls.
  • Implementing new HR initiatives and working on various HR projects.
  • Recruitment support, liaising with line managers and the resourcing team as required.
  • Monitoring of the annual performance cycle, acting as a super-user and ensuring completion in a timely manner.
  • Support with month end reporting process ensuring that data is collated, accurate and provided on time.
  • Support the successful implementation of engagement programs and turn engagement actions into a reality.
  • Support the business with undertaking small scale business unit change programmes or restructures, where appropriate, and on larger scale change programmes provide input and administrative support to the wider team.

Who are we looking for?

  • Proven experience as a HR Advisor or similar role.
  • Organising, prioritising, and managing multiple employee relations cases at once.
  • Data analysis, commentary, letter and report writing.
  • Hands-on experience with IT programmes and HR systems.
  • Experience of gathering and presenting data
  • Desired: CIPD qualified, or currently working towards level 5 qualification

  • Up to date knowledge of UK employment legislation and best practice.
