We have a great opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our highly successful Energy Solutions business; primarily supporting our renewable energy projects. 

Our Energy Solutions business oversee major renewable EPC projects across the UK.  We design, install, commission and operate large scale solar PV farms for our clients. Supplying renewable energy from solar power plants enables local communities to reduce costs and reduce their carbon footprint.

Key activities

  • Monitor project costs against budget and forecast spend profiles.
  • Assist in preparing monthly cost reports and CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations).
  • Support in managing applications for payment and certifying subcontractor valuations.
  • Preparation of current contract variations where necessary,
  • Support to construction team to ensure they are aware of contractual requirements, and what are excluded from the works.
  • Review of programme of works preprepared by others ensuring costs, and payment profile are in line with governance expectations.
  • Support in preparation of subcontracts ensuring scope of works reflects costs build up.
  • Maintaining a very good relationship with all customers and ability to build trust and confidence
  • Liaison with subcontractors, and management of relationship and keep assisting construction team where required keeping contractors to programme.
  • Constant review of lessons learned from current operational schemes, to ensure new pricing is reflective of current issues and/or scope gaps.
  • Preparing cost models for new bids, including ensuring COP and Overhead provisions are accurate, sales sheet is current in line with business expectations. Active actor of the collaboration with Equans UK&I BDO and DE&S BDO teams.
  • Providing support where necessary with regards to quality element of bids
  • Strong commitment to H&S and support for its adoption on projects thanks to monthly site visits.
  • Collaboration with other BU within DE&S for the sharing of both best practices and information which can be beneficial to others for BD activities, finance/commercial, etc.
  • Prepare and submit reports as appropriate to Company requirement especially month end results, forecasts and activity reports

Skills, qualifications & experience:

  • Previous experience in Quantity Surveyor positions in a similar sector
  • HNC/D or Degree in relevant discipline
  • Good understanding of NEC form of contracts
  • Excellent written, numerical, oral communication and skills
  • Able to work as part of team with colleagues on the Contract and cross functionally with colleagues in other areas of the business.
  • A keen eye for detail, with a methodical and process driven approach to work

Part time Hygiene Services Assistant

Equans is looking for a Hygiene Services Assistant to join our team in Westminster, London on a permanent basis, This is a full time role working 20 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £13,140.04 per annum and benefits package.

Shift Pattern:  

Monday to Friday

6.00pm to 10.00pm

What will you deliver?

To clean offices, fixtures and fittings,  desks and work stations, meeting and training rooms, toilet and kitchen facilities,  carpeted and other flooring areas, reception areas and associated accommodation in order to maintain them in a clean and high hygienic standard.

Please note employment in this post is dependent upon obtaining security clearance; this requires 5 years’ residency in the UK and a valid British or EU passport.

Craftsperson Level 2 (Electrical Bias)

EQUANS are looking for an Electrical Craftsperson (Level 2) working on behalf of Merseyside Fire & Rescue Services in Liverpool. This role would be a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

 

General Overview: 

This is a role for a proven LV Authorised 18th edition qualified Electrical Technician. Supported by a strong operational team, the focus is developing, maintaining and improving the Electrical systems across the Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service estate.

In particular;

•Demonstrate the ability to maintain plant and equipment to agreed specifications and operation

•Develop an in-depth knowledge of the relevant individual contracts

•Ensure paperwork is up to date and correctly completed

•Ensure all jobs are closed down promptly

Impact: 

•Carry out the defined planned maintenance regime for all contractual obligations within the contract

•Ensure Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) are in place.

•Issuing of relative working permits.

•Carry out repairs, reactive maintenance and minor installation works on plant.

•Attend, diagnose and repair faults having due regard to customer care in this specific environment.

•Carry out proactive plant monitoring activities to ensure efficient utilisation of plant and equipment

•Interrogation of operational information systems to support daily operations as well as fault diagnosis

•Complete the relevant paperwork and report diligently.

•Any other relevant duties that may be required, some of which may be outside normal working hours.

 

You will be expected to undertake any training necessary to ensure that you are able to undertake your duties effectively.

Quantity Surveyor

General Overview

To take responsibility, ownership and accountability of the successful management and control all aspects of the commercial / financial and contractual elements of the designated project in order to control and maximise the company’s profitability, protect the companies legal and contractual obligations under the contract and to manage proactively the control of all commercial issues.  This is to include ensuring applications and valuations are completed in line with the contract terms and also ensuring sub-contractors receive prompt payment and are procured in line with our contractual obligations and Commitments to Subcontractors.  In addition, ensuring cost reports and the like are managed, completed on time and monitored.  To understand, implement and adhere to the company SHEQ policy/strategy.

Key Accountabilities

  • Control all expenditure
  • Reconcile cost/value reports and profit forecasts
  • To assist the Contract Manager with pre-start planning and programming
  • Continual use of the sub-contract data base
  • Sub-contract procurement and commercial management
  • Management and control of sub-contract accounts and variation accounts
  • Change management control
  • Assisting and liaising with the buyers on materials procurement and buying opportunities
  • To manage the day to day cost control, monitoring and reporting
  • Develop an understanding of the designated contract, specification and pricing ensuring compliance with conditions throughout
  • Assist the Contract Manager with subcontractor selection and ensure the chosen subcontractor has the appropriate skill set and capability to deliver the works. Place the appropriate order and all required information to carry out their work
  • Liaise with the Contract Manager over contractual issues and take action as required
  • Measure progress, submit valuations, submit final accounts and retention release and monitor receipt of payment in a timely manner in accordance with the contracts
  • Process subcontractor requests for payment
  • Completing a monthly cost / valuation report and cash flow for the designated projects
  • Where appropriate, assist with estimates and negotiations for future projects or phases
  • Attend project and company related meetings
  • Ensure the company is neither compromised nor disadvantaged by an contractual or financial arrangement
  • Manage the costs on a project to ensure both the company and the client is fully advised of the cost situation
  • Sufficiently manage the financial aspects of the project to ensure the correct safety equipment is used at all times

  • Ensure timely cash flow management for the Client and the group, and the supply change
  • Assisting the development and training of trainee and assistant surveyors

Mechanical Team Leader

EQUANS are looking for a Mechanical Team Leader working on behalf of QEH in Birmingham. This role would be a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

 

General Overview: 

To manage the mechanical day team ensuring that planned preventive maintenance, testing, breakdown maintenance and other maintenance related activities on the estate are completed and records maintained.

 

Impact: 

This role has an important role within the workflow process; the person will be actively involved in developing detailed knowledge, and the maintenance of the core plant and equipment across the QEH Estate.

 

Complexity: 

•Manage the Mechanical Day Team and assist in the operation, repair and maintenance of plant.

•To undertake any reasonable duties to maintain all services to the NHS client.

•To carry out all works in compliance with Equans KPI’s.

•Achieve AP and CP appointments in disciplines as requested by estates management team to support the contract.

•Working Hours Mon – Fri 0800 - 1600

•To be fully conversant with and to work to the current regulations, codes of practice, Health & Safety regulations, HTMs, and all safety rules both Equans and Statutory.

•To undertake appraisals, manage timesheets, sickness, annual leave requests for the team.

•To manage contractors relevant to the discipline ensuring PPMs are booked in and completed within SLA, and any corrective/breakdown work completed within SLA.

•Carry out work as required by the estates management team.

•Where required - ensure logbooks and records are maintained, up to date, and available for audits/inspections as required.

•To act as AP/RP for various disciplines once training has been completed.

•Provide Water DRP service for the organisation.

•Provide Medical Gas AP service for the organisation.

•Manage CP appointments of Mechanical Day team.

•Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings, and specifications appropriate to his/her own trade, without supervision.

•Managing and directing staff in a safe and efficient manner.

•Deliver training to staff on relevant subjects as appropriate so experience is gained (e.g., toolbox talks & trade specific subject matter).

•Carry out Equans Management Safety Visits and compliance audits (MSV) Across the contract on both Internal work force and Sub-contractors.

•Carry out Monthly minimum 10% Audit checks on works carried out by the estate’s teams ensuring compliance, report shortfalls and training requirements.

•Carrying out inspections of site tools, plant, access equipment and first aid equipment, reporting on findings and manage resolution ensuring safety and compliance.

•Act as a first line management response to any Events that may arise across the entirety of the QEHB Estate.

•To ensure that immediate corrective action is taken in the event of emergencies, so that the Trusts/client needs are met, to avoid danger to people, property, and service provision.

•To provide as requested by management reports, calculations, and recommendations for the correct and efficient running of all plant and equipment.

•To undertake additional and continual training in job skills and techniques that may be required to meet personal and organisational aims.

•To undertake any other duties as requested by Management, to comply with Equans contract and KPI’s.

•Where required, provide support for Equans out of hours On Call service.

•Carry out work in line with any reasonable management instruction.

Qualifications or Required Experience: 

•Previous experience of working within a health care environment.

•Knowledge and understanding of HTMs.

•Previous management experience of a mechanical maintenance team.

•Experience and knowledge of AHUs, Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, Hot and Cold-water distribution systems (including Calorifiers, Plate Heat exchangers), pressure systems, heating distribution systems, Fan Coil units, all in a commercial/healthcare environment.

•City and Guilds or relevant qualifications in a mechanical discipline

•Driving Licence

•Medical Gas AP training

•BOAS accreditation

•Natural Gas RP training

•Water RP training

•Knowledge of Autoclaves and Pneumatic Tube Delivery Systems

Hydrogen Process Engineer

Our expertise spans the design, construction, and maintenance of buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide. We have a great opportunity for a Hydrogen Process Engineer to join our Energy Solutions business.

Equans are a market leading engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor in the emerging green (electrolytic) hydrogen market, working on several flagship projects in the UK and across Europe. Equans requires a Hydrogen Process Engineer to act as the technical lead for hydrogen projects within the UK. This will be a high-profile position within Equans with a genuine opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the UK’s decarbonisation effort.

The Hydrogen Process Engineer will have an important role throughout the project lifecycle. They will support business development activities by reviewing employers requirements, preparing technical documentation and engaging with our supply chain. During the pre-construction phase, they will manage Pre-FEED and FEED studies and support with the preparation of EPC proposals. During the construction phase, they will undertake a project management position with responsibility for process and C&I packages.

Key activities

They will collaborate with colleagues from across the wider Equans and Bouygues group and manage internal and external resource, ensuring all engineering and design is delivered to a high standard. The key responsibilities of this role can be summarised as follows:

Project Management & Delivery

  • Overall technical lead and project manager for hydrogen projects
  • Work-package lead for process engineering
  • Coordinate and manage interfaces between internal and external technical teams

Technical Leadership

  • Development and ownership of the overall technical solutions
  • Technology watch and technical market awareness
  • Build and maintain a technical library for key equipment (e.g. electrolysers, compressors, storage etc)

Business Development Support

Lead Project Engineer

Equans UK is looking for a Lead Project Engineer to join our Equans Digital Business on a permanent, full-time basis to deliver critical system upgrades / improvements to the Building Management System (BMS) Infrastructure for our clients in the UK

In doing so we naturally prime the sites to become ‘Smart enabled’, meaning we can then introduce further value across sites via our IoT solutions; driving social, economic and environmental benefits to portfolio of sites and more importantly people operating and living within them.

In relation to scale, individual projects will range from £200k to £3m worth of works with multiple projects ‘live’ at any point in time. 

Key activities

As a Lead Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, delivery, commissioning, and handover of Building Management System projects. You will work closely with clients, consultants, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires a strong technical background in BMS systems, excellent project coordination skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Project Delivery: Manage the full lifecycle of BMS projects from design through to commissioning and client handover.
  • System Design: Develop control panel schematics, I/O schedules, and software strategies based on project specifications.
  • Commissioning: Carry out on-site commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of BMS systems.
  • Client Liaison: Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients and stakeholders throughout the project.
  • Documentation: Produce and maintain project documentation including O&M manuals, commissioning reports, and as-built drawings.
  • Compliance: Ensure all work complies with relevant health & safety regulations, industry standards, and company procedures.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, software engineers, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution.

Skills, qualifications & experience:

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related field.
  • Manufacturer training or certification in BMS platforms (e.g., Trend SET, Niagara AX/N4).
  • ECS/CSCS card or equivalent site safety certification.
  • Proven experience in BMS project engineering, ideally with systems such as Trend, Tridium Niagara, Siemens, or Schneider.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and control principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Experience with BMS software configuration and graphics generation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Full UK driving licence.
