Summary
The Information Technology Leader plays a key role in bridging the gap between business teams and IT services. Acting as the main point of contact between internal stakeholders, central shared services and the local IT teams, the IT Leader ensures that business needs are understood and translated into practical IT solutions. The IT Leader oversees the management of applications, ensures compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLA), leads the IT support teams L1 and L2, and ensures that IT projects are delivered on time and within budget.
The IT Leader serves as a critical liaison between the IT department and various business units within the organization, facilitating effective communication and alignment between IT services and business needs. The IT Leader collects business requirements, manages service expectations, and addresses pain points to ensure timely, efficient service delivery. Acting as the primary contact for IT service consumers, the IT Leader drives alignment between business requirements and IT capabilities, ensuring that all IT projects deliver value, satisfaction, and returns on investment (ROI) to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- IT business relationship management: Serve as the primary point of contact for business teams, ensuring that their IT needs are well understood and addressed with appropriate solutions.
- Project Management: Oversee IT projects in collaboration with internal and external teams, ensuring proper planning, monitoring, and on-time delivery.
- Budget and Financial Oversight: Define and manage IT budgets to ensure efficient resource allocation and financial accountability.
- IT Team Coordination: Lead and coordinate the IT support teams level 1 and 2, and proactively manage critical applications, ensuring the maintenance and improvement of existing systems and applications to meet evolving business needs.
- SLA Management: Monitor and ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs), tracking performance metrics to optimize response times and service quality.
- Process Optimization: Participate in the continuous improvement of IT processes by analyzing performance, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing action plans.
- Travel Flexibility: Visit various client or internal sites across Canada and USA as required to ensure effective IT service delivery, respond to site-specific needs and foster a close relationship with business teams.
- Stakeholder Communication: Collect and document business requirements, key performance indicators, and timelines for services, ensuring that IT is well-informed and equipped to scope, build, test, and deliver services aligned with organizational goals.
Requirements
- Is authorized to work in Canada;
- Must be able to meet the required security level (Reliability Status clearance);
- Degree in Computer Science, Project Management, or related field;
- At least 9 years of experience managing IT projects and applications within complex, multi-site and international environments;
- Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, application management, and support environments;
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and guide IT teams toward shared objectives;
- Demonstrated experience in managing budgets and financial oversight of IT projects;
- Expertise in tracking and optimizing SLA agreements, ensuring performance standards are consistently met.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed to various sites (a valid passport).
- Periodic travel to meet with teams, partners, and clients.
- PMP certification is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating technical needs into business solutions.
