Equans is looking for a Head of Procurement to join the team on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.

The Head of Procurement for direct categories is a senior role within the Procurement function that is responsible for delivering the UK fiscal financial Procurement Targets associated with Direct categories for the UKBU.

The Head of Procurement will ensure the operational and strategic procurement needs of the UK Equans business are met. As the Head of Procurement, you will have a responsibility for participating in overall coordination of Procurement activities to support the strategic direction of the business including but not limited to alignment with the operational leadership teams and operational procurement teams with the aim to leverage EQUANS spend to surpass saving targets.

You will deliver procurement and commercial expertise across all service lines driving a tangible link to profit improvement with a strong focus on optimising best business practice, fiscal performance, risk management and compliance.

Collaboration and buy in from Senior Management across diverse Operational Business units is pivotal to the role, therefore Senior level dialogue and communication skills are essential in fulfilling this role.

The role also requires strong understanding of UKBU Finance performance measures in order to drive the correct outputs for UK whilst aligning with wider EQUANS Group Procurement performance objectives.

What will you deliver?

To strategically lead Procurement activities for the UKBU in the Direct categories to create value expected and exceeding savings targets set whilst maintaining Operational engagement and delivering best in class Procurement solutions to EQUANS’ operations and ultimately clients through:

  • Build, agree and produce PROCURE to PERFORM plan to deliver the target c£7.5M by 2027
  • Ensure all of the major direct categories (c£700M) for the UK are negotiated, deliver best value, are fit for purpose for our operational teams and support our Procure to Perform targets
  • Support the simplification projects within the procurement environment – make sure what we do is efficient, effective and simple to perform
  • Lead team, develop Direct category managers and team members (5 FTE)  and drive the performance culture
  • Engage with operations, senior stakeholders, divisional Executive boards and UK Executive committee to agree major deliverables and negotiated outcomes
  • Work with technical teams from the divisions to build Equans Specifications on commodity items to drive cost, quality and simplification for the business
  • Support and build Bouygues in the UK support function – bring in additional £700M spend into control and management
  • Deliver accurate and well-developed reporting against annual and full plan targets
  • Ensure the Target Operating Model for the Direct categories is efficient and effective at all times
  • Build commercial reward models that align with the overarching procurement strategy – up front price must be in line / better than true market and commercial rewards are genuine and not recovery of up-front price increases
  • Support our SBTi targets and CSR agenda within the Direct category negotiations

Who are we looking for?

  • Educated to degree/ diploma level in Procurement is preferable. Other relevant degrees e.g. Business, Law, Accounting are acceptable
  • Procurement Professional – CIPS or equivalent
  • Understanding and practical application of base UK law applicable to Commercial / contracts
  • Senior level experience of procurement with a proven track record of delivery of savings and team management
  • Experience in change management and implementation
  • Must have an understanding of the Facilities Management sector, including procurement through complex supply chains
  • Ability to turn complex processes and procedures into a simple framework
  • Entrepreneurial eye for opportunity to deliver value
  • Demonstrable ability to create collaborative working relationships and effective partnerships with the direct reports as well as with stakeholders across the business
  • Demonstrates a strong ability in developing and implementing approaches to supply chain and vendor management
  • Strong understanding of Procurement savings methodology and value leavers
  • Natural leadership skills both in terms of team management and development
  • Strong Operational knowledge and understanding of applicable Procurement levers across the various Operating Units
  • Ability to turn complex process and procedures into a simple framework
  • Excellent financial acumen with an ability to analyse complex data and documentation with accuracy
  • Skilled negotiator with proven experience in a procurement / commercial environment
  • Sound understanding of risk analysis/management
