EQUANS are recruiting for a Head of operations to cover our sites in Northern Ireland, predominantly working from our Regional Office in Belfast. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview:
The Head of Operations is responsible for leading and overseeing the operational delivery of construction projects across the business. This role ensures projects are delivered safely on time, within budget, and to the expected quality standards. The position plays a key role in resource planning, operational performance, client satisfaction, and continuous improvement, while ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Reporting directly to the Operations Director or Managing Director, the Senior Operations Manager is a key member of the senior leadership team.
What will you deliver?
· Lead, manage and support Project and Site Managers to deliver construction projects effectively across multiple sites. · Drive the operational performance of the business, ensuring delivery excellence and consistency across all live projects. · Support and challenge pre-construction planning, programming and procurement activities to ensure operational readiness. · Monitor and improve site-based health and safety performance in line with company policy and legislation. · Work closely with Commercial, Design, and Planning teams to ensure alignment and seamless project delivery. · Maintain and develop client relationships, acting as a senior point of contact to resolve any escalated issues or risks. · Contribute to the strategic planning of the business, including resource forecasting, workforce planning, and pipeline management.

Who are we looking for?
Essential: · Significant experience (typically 10+ years) in construction operations management or a similar leadership role within the UK construction industry. · Proven track record in delivering complex construction projects safely, on time, and to budget. · Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience managing multi-disciplinary site teams. · In-depth knowledge of UK construction health and safety legislation (e.g. CDM regulations). · Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable: · Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field. · Chartered status with a professional body (e.g. MCIOB, RICS, ICE). · NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent. · Experience working within residential, social housing, or public sector construction environments. |
