We are looking for a Head of Business Development, Innovation and Sales (Zwijndrecht).

In order to accelerate business development by originating, assessing and developing business growth, innovation and sales opportunities, a Business Development, Innovation and Sales team is created. This team reports to the BU Manager.

This team will have a transversal role on BU and division level and will focus on business development in 3 vertical markets: Pharma – Biotech, Chemical – Petrochemical and Food & Beverage.

As Head of BD, Innovation and Sales, you manage & coordinate all Business Development activities and coordinate all commercial activities in the Business Unit. In collaboration with the BU Manager and Division Manager, you define, apply and work out the commercial pricing strategy in order to bring out the profit targeted in the BU and the divisions. You ensure market development in line with the budgets and objectives fixed by the BU and the division in order to maintain and/or strengthen the company’s position in the market.

More specific, you are in charge of the following activities :

  • prospecting & managing leads on BU level:
    • lead generation: identify potential opportunities in line with Equans’ strategy and goals
    • lead qualification: evaluate if lead is worth pursuing based upon strategy, potential profitability, likelihood of success and available resources
    • manage prequalification
  • initiate the PRD – Proposal Review Document
  • provide macro-economic & relevant strategic commercial info of our clients & markets needed for strategic exercises: give guidance & help to decide on sales plans on department level
  • manage the BU team Business Development, Innovation and Sales
  • manage, coordinate client satisfaction surveys & action plans
  • coordinate ComCom-procedures and multi-technical cross division sales
  • build and maintain constructive long-lasting relationships with customers
  • develop innovation by leading the development of new business models and solutions, building on the expertise of various departments and external partners
  • support the implementation of new solutions and standardize them for deployment
  • in charge of governance and the Protocol Common CRM/Power BI application
  • promotor of cross-selling outside of BU/within Equans group
  • build a strong cooperation with the division managers in order to achieve the P&L objectives together as a team
  • in charge of the commercial reporting individual DIV/consolidated BU
  • prepare the commercial lead ComCom’s (in line with sales guideline – assure auditable process from RFQ – Order booking)
  • coordinate the commercial meetings – focus on order intake aligned with procedure from RFQ till Order
    > weekly sales meeting division level with minimum presence of DEM/SEM, Legal, Tendering Manager,…
  • coordinate the monthly Commercial Strategic Review (incl. forecast order intake by division/department)
    > monthly sales meeting BU level with minimum presence of BU Manager, DIM, Tendering Manager,…

 

What do you need to be successful in this function?

  • university degree in engineering, or commercial degree with a good technical understanding
  • at least 10 years of experience in the field of business development, sales and commercial developments
  • proven track record of closing transactions is a strong asset
  • proficient with technology and digital tools, with a strong understanding of CRM systems
  • extended network in the Industry
  • ability to approach potential customers, understand their needs and be present on behalf of the company
  • self-driven and autonomous worker with strong business ethics
  • a team-oriented mindset with a constructive approach to working with other departments
  • good analytical skills
  • excellent oral and written communication skills towards various stakeholders
  • fluency in Dutch and English
