Job Summary

The Industrial Electrician (442A) is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting electrical systems and electrically‑driven mechanical equipment in accordance with Ontario Electrical Code, facility safety procedures, and OEM standards. The role requires strong diagnostic abilities, safe work practices, and the ability to support both preventive and corrective maintenance activities.

This role ensures safe, reliable, and compliant operation of electrical and electromechanical equipment supporting facility heating, cooling, ventilation, and critical power systems. The licensed 442A Industrial Electrician is a key technical resource responsible for both preventive and corrective maintenance and supporting specialized vendor operations.

Responsibilities

Electrical & Electromechanical Preventive Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled inspections on electrically powered equipment including:
    • Heat Maintenance Circulation Pumps (quarterly)
    • Supply Fans (quarterly)
    • Condensing Units (quarterly)
    • Expansion Tanks (semi‑annual, electrical checks where applicable)
  • Conduct:
    • Electrical connection tightening;
    • Motor amperage readings;
    • Inspection of contactors, relays, and interlocks;
    • Vibration/noise assessments for electrically driven rotating equipment;
    • Motor lubrication (as per OEM);
    • Belt checks and replacements (annual);
    • Verification of BAS/controls interlocks.

 

Electrical Troubleshooting & Corrective Work

  • Diagnose faults in motors, starters, VFDs, MCC buckets, control circuits, relays, sensors, and power circuits;
  • Replace components including fuses, contactors, overloads, sensors, wiring, conduits, and terminations;
  • Support corrective maintenance on mechanical systems involving electrical components.

 

Substation & Distribution Support

  • Perform annual substation electrical inspections (visual/electrical checks);
  • Support load readings, torque inspections, infrared scans, and breaker function checks (as trained and approved).

 

Third‑Party Vendor Coordination

  • Coordinate/schedule specialized third‑party vendors for:
    • SCR System Service (Safety Power);
    • Air Compressor Inspections (Ingersoll Rand);
    • Heater Testing in Enclosures (AVL);
    • Power Washing Vendor Supervision (summer schedule).
  • Provide electrical isolation, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and safe work area preparation for vendor activities.

 

Site Support & Compliance

  • Maintain equipment enclosures and surrounding areas in compliance with safety, housekeeping, and electrical hazard standards;
  • Complete required logs, inspection reports, and digital documentation;
  • Follow ESA, OHSA, and internal safety procedures for energized and de‑energized work;
  • Support risk assessments, job hazard analysis (JHA), and ensure proper PPE usage.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Mixed environment: mechanical rooms, rooftops, electrical rooms, outdoor enclosures;
  • Regular inspections (monthly/quarterly/semiannual/annual);
  • Occasional after-hours or on-call support for critical systems.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in Canada;
  • Ability to pass all background checks and security screenings;
  • Valid Ontario 442A Industrial Electrician Certificate of Qualification;
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in industrial, institutional, or mechanical plant environments;
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Ontario Electrical Safety Code;
    • Lockout/Tagout procedures;
    • Motor controls, MCCs, VFDs, starters, and electrical distribution equipment;
    • BAS/controls interfacing.

 Skills

Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, P&IDs.

  • Skilled in testing electrical systems using:
    • Multimeters;
    • Meggers/insulation testers;
    • Clamp-on ammeters;
    • Vibration/temperature monitoring tools (as applicable).
  • Familiarity with:
    • HVAC equipment (fans, pumps, compressors);
    • Cooling/condensing units and control circuits;
    • Electrical safety for mechanical equipment.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide full administrative support to the business’ day to day operations and to complete a traineeship in Certificate III in Business Administration. The role be primarily supporting the Fire & Mechanical Services business unit and will also provide secondary support to the Electrical and Communications Division.

Responsibilities

The Trainee Service Support Coordinator is expected to carry out the duties listed below under the supervision of a manager or suitably qualified person:

Customer Service

  • Professionally answer inbound phone calls and answer queries, take messages or direct calls as appropriate, with a high level of customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Monitoring of the Service Inbox (first line of contact for all customer enquiries).

Scheduling and Technician Coordination

  • Scheduling Technician weekly Preventative Maintenance (PM’) runs.
  • Raising ‘Do and Charge Calls (D&C’) and scheduling Technicians for all D&C and Quoted Works (‘QU’) - Local and National customers (all repair works).
  • Updating the ‘On Call Roster’ weekly.
  • Processing and approving Technician timesheets and escalating to supervisors where required.
  • Monitoring Technician correct usage of Click FSE (service reports being uploaded to call, timesheets being completed on the call while on the site, etc.

Reporting/Management of Customer Portals/WIP Management

  • Uploading PM service reports, documentation and invoices to local customer portals/ issuing via email / per customer requirements.
  • Running decline reports, review and action any issues within the local branch and action call escalation screens.
  • Reviewing Open Call reports, sending open calls to Technicians to complete, clearing Aged WIP.
  • Running and distributing Aged WIP, Open Call and Backlog reports for all contracts and driving completion.
  • Updating customer portals – accepting repair work orders, updating/comments, uploading.

Invoicing

  • Act as the first point of contact for local contract invoice rejections and resolving issues to get invoices paid.
  • Invoice all completed PM, CO and QU jobs by end of month.
  • Handling all credit request queries and obtaining management approval to process and processing all approved local credits.

Subcontractor Management

  • Issuing monthly POs to subcontractors and scheduling subcontractor PM Calls along with D&C/QU works
  • Assist with subcontractor invoice processing – vetting, receipting & uploading of reports (issuing invoice to CAPPS on completion).

General
Approving asset captures in Click FSE and managing asset capture processes.

  • Procuring materials for all repair works (D&C and QU).
  • Managing all staff inductions and Technician licenses.
  • Assisting with fleet management.
  • Ordering and receipting stationary, PPE/Uniforms, logbooks, hire equipment - gas bottles, etc.
  • Managing inventory / warehouse stock process.
  • General office administration duties.

Traineeship Responsibilities

  • Complete all learning modules and assessments required in accordance with the traineeship contract and training plan.
  • Attend all training as required by the RTO (Registered Training Organisation).
  • Actively participate in on the job learning and formal training.

  • Du verfügst über eine fundierte elektrische Grundausbildung.
  • Du hast dich als Techniker:in HF/FH oder Ingenieur:in FH in Elektrotechnik, Energie & Umwelt, Automation oder einer vergleichbaren Fachrichtung weitergebildet.
  • Du bringst mehrere Jahre Erfahrung im Energiemanagement mit.
  • Du hast praktische Erfahrung mit Energiemanagementsoftware (z. B. e3m oder vergleichbaren Lösungen).
  • Du verfügst über nachweisbare Erfahrung in der Energieoptimierung von Gebäuden und technischen Anlagen.
  • Du kennst relevante Zertifizierungssysteme wie UZV, REIDA, GRESB oder vergleichbare Standards.
  • Du hast fundierte Kenntnisse in der Analyse und Verarbeitung grosser Datenmengen.
  • Du verstehst die technischen Zusammenhänge von Energie-, Gebäude- und Anlagensystemen (HLKSE, Messkonzepte und Schnittstellen).
  • Erfahrung in der Gebäudeautomation ist ein Plus.
  • Du kommunizierst stilsicher auf Deutsch; Französischkenntnisse sind von Vorteil. Weitere Sprachen sind willkommen.

Profil

Caretaker


EQUANS is recruiting for a Caretaker to join the team in Marsden Heights Community College, Edge End Ln, Nelson BB9 0PR . This is a permanent full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £25,954.50  per annum and benefits package.

Shift times:

  • Monday to Friday: 5:30 AM – 1:30 PM
  • Monday to Friday (subject to change): either 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM

What will you deliver?

Responsible for the day to day management of the school premises with respect to caretaking services, together with establishing a close working relationship with the school and community groups. Ensure that all services are provided to a consistently high standard. Assist the Area Supervisor in meeting the requirements of the Project Agreement.

For this role you must undergo A DBS clearance therefore ability to pass is essential
