We are looking for a Business Development, Innovation and Sales Manager (Zwijndrecht).

In order to accelerate business development by originating, assessing and developing business growth, innovation and sales opportunities, a Business Development, Innovation and Sales team is created. This team reports to the BU Manager.

This team will have a transversal role on BU and division level and will focus on business development in 3 vertical markets: Pharma – Biotech, Chemical – Petrochemical and Food & Beverage.

As Business Development, Innovation and Sales Manager, you manage and coordinate all commercial activities in your specific vertical market.
In collaboration with the Head of BD, Innovation and Sales, you facilitate and support the delivery of the commercial plans (based upon strategy defined at BU level) for your scope. You ensure market development in line with the budgets and objectives fixed by the BU in order to maintain and/or strengthen the company’s position in the vertical market. Your role is to strengthen the sales & tendering teams within the operational teams.

More specific, you are in charge of the following activities:

  • hunter for new business, accounts, trends,…
  • management of pipeline perspectives HOT/COLD
  • understand all stakeholders and competitors in your vertical markets
  • first contact for (foreign) engineering companies for large Capex Investments in Belgium
  • ensure accuracy of data in the CRM tool
  • detect quick wins in technical solutions of the BU & be promotor of cross-selling outside of BU/within Equans group
  • representing Equans within sector organizations (Voka, Agoria, Port Authorities, Frixis,…) and be present on major technical events/expositions
  • detect strategic partnerships (suppliers, clients,…)
  • maximize buy-in with operations/department managers and build a strong cooperation with the dedicated sales & account managers, operational managers & teams in order to achieve the P&L objectives together as a team
  • build and maintain constructive long-lasting relationships with the customers in your vertical market
  • steer innovation in your vertical market by leading the development of new business models and solutions, building on the expertise of various departments and external partners
  • for your vertical market, support the implementation of the new solutions and standardize them for deployment
  • provide macro-economic & relevant strategic commercial info of our clients within your vertical market needed for strategic exercises: give guidance & help to decide on sales plans on department level

 

What do you need to excel in this function?

  • university degree in engineering, or commercial degree with a good technical understanding
  • at least 3-5 years of experience in the field of business development, sales and commercial developments
  • proven track record of closing transactions is a strong asset
  • proficient with technology and digital tools, with a strong understanding of CRM systems
  • extended network in the industry
  • ability to approach potential customers, understand their needs and be present on behalf of the company
  • self-driven and autonomous worker with strong business ethics
  • a team-oriented mindset with a constructive approach to working with other departments
  • good analytical skills
  • excellent oral and written communication skills towards various stakeholders
  • fluency in Dutch and English
