Summary 

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Energy and Sustainability Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives across our organization. This role requires a deep understanding of energy management, environmental sustainability, and the ability to drive projects that reduce environmental impact while improving operational efficiency.

Description 

Key Responsibilities

Energy Management:

• Develop and implement strategies to reduce energy consumption and improve energy efficiency across all facilities.
• Monitor energy usage and analyze data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost savings.
• Oversee energy audits and ensure compliance with relevant energy regulations and standards.
• Collaborate with facility managers and engineers to design and implement energy-efficient technologies and processes.

Sustainability Initiatives:

• Lead the development and execution of sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction, water conservation, and carbon footprint reduction.
• Create and manage sustainability programs that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct sustainability assessments and develop action plans to improve environmental performance.
• Promote sustainable practices across the organization through education, training, and engagement with staff.

Reporting and Compliance:

• Prepare and maintain detailed reports on energy and sustainability metrics, including greenhouse gas emissions, energy usage, and sustainability project outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to energy and environmental sustainability.
• Participate in environmental audits and assessments and address any findings or recommendations.

Project Management:

• Manage energy and sustainability projects from conception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
• Work cross-functionally with other departments to integrate sustainability into all aspects of the business.
• Identify and apply for grants, incentives, and other funding opportunities to support energy and sustainability projects.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

• Stay current with the latest trends, technologies, and regulations in energy management and sustainability.
• Continuously seek opportunities to innovate and improve energy and sustainability practices within the organization.
• Provide recommendations for new technologies, processes, and practices that can enhance sustainability and reduce operational costs.

Key Competencies

Technical Expertise:

• Strong knowledge of energy management systems, renewable energy technologies, and sustainability practices.
• Experience with energy auditing, energy modeling, and environmental impact assessments.
• Familiarity with relevant software and tools, such as energy management systems (EMS) and building management systems (BMS).

Analytical Skills:

Ability to analyze complex data sets and develop actionable insights to improve energy efficiency and sustainability.

Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement effective solutions to environmental challenges.

Communication Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Strong presentation skills, with the ability to create and deliver engaging and informative presentations.

Project Management:

Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a focus on delivering results on time and within budget.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Leadership and Collaboration:

Ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including facility managers, engineers, and external partners.

Strong commitment to sustainability and the ability to inspire and motivate others to adopt sustainable practices

Requirements / Qualifications

• Is authorized to work in the US;

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Energy Management, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field;
• 5 to 10+ years of experience in energy management, sustainability, or a related field;
• Demonstrated knowledge of Environmental Management System and Energy Management System;
• Certification in energy management (e.g., CEM) or sustainability (e.g., LEED) is preferred;
• Experience in the pharmaceutical sector is an advantage;
• Knowledge of the ISO14001 and ISO50001 standards is an advantage.
