EQUANS is looking for a Multi-Skilled Facilities Management Technician (Electrical Bias) to join our team in Jesmond on a permanent basis for our Newcastle Schools contract. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week – this will be working 06:00-14:00 Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

The Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Multi-Skilled Facilities Management Technician (Electrical Bias) to join our team. This pivotal role is ideal for an experienced professional looking to expand their expertise across a variety of facilities management disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:
•Safety First – comply with EQUANS 12 Golden Rules. 
•Electrical Maintenance: Conduct routine and reactive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment, ensuring full compliance with safety standards. Act as a contract Low Voltage Authorised Person. 
•Water Management: Perform water hygiene tasks, including testing, monitoring, and maintenance, in accordance with regulations. Act as a deputy Responsible Person for Water Management. 
•Fabric Management: Carry out regular inspections and minor repairs of building fabric to uphold asset integrity with regards to condition and fire safety. 
•Asset Management: Support the management and upkeep of building assets, including recording and reporting on performance. Review and monitor building management systems with a view optimising performance whilst managing energy consumption. 
•Technical Compliance: Ensure adherence to all technical compliance standards and company protocols, maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
•General FM Duties: Undertake a range of facilities management tasks, contributing to the seamless operation of the site.

Complexity 
•Planned Maintenance: Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on building systems and fabric in line with the PPM schedule, ensuring all tasks are completed to a high standard.
•Reactive Maintenance: Respond promptly and effectively to breakdowns, minimizing disruption to school operations.
•Installation and Upgrades: Carry out minor installation, upgrade, and adaptation works to enhance facilities functionality.
•Tool Operation: Safely and effectively use all types of hand and power tools in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and health & safety protocols.
•Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health & safety and infection control procedures, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
•Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work undertaken, ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
•Team Collaboration: Work flexibly and collaboratively with other trades and team members to ensure seamless service delivery.
•Minimized Disruption: Perform duties with minimal disruption to school activities, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment.
•Professional Development: Engage in relevant training to maintain, develop and expand skills in line with the needs of the service.
•Customer Focus: Collaborate with colleagues, school staff, and stakeholders to deliver a customer-focused and efficient service.

Qualifications or Required Experience:
•Relevant Electrical Qualifications. 18th Edition. City & Guilds 2391 Inspect & testing.
•Previously worked in a FM maintenance environment (ideally education environment).
•Use of CAFM system.
•Familiar with Fire door maintenance.
•Enhanced DBS clearance essential.
•Have a proven track record of practical maintenance skills and fault finding.
•Have a good understanding of services within a building such as boilers/ pressure systems, heating, lighting and Power.
•Have sound knowledge of Health and Safety.
•Have the ability to follow site and company policies and procedures.
•Be flexible to out of hours overtime.
•Experience in working in school/PFI environment.
•Full UK driving license.
•Vehicle provided.
