Summary

Equans seeks an experienced Director of Business Development to drive growth in the Life Science sector, based in Boston, MA. The successful candidate will expand Equans’ integrated facility management and technical solutions portfolio for pharmaceutical, biotech, and research organizations. This role requires a proven track record in business development, sales execution, and client relationship management within the life sciences industry.

Description

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Development

  • Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities in the life sciences sector (pharma, biotech, research labs, GMP environments);
  • Conduct market research to understand industry trends, regulatory requirements (FDA, GMP), and competitive positioning in life sciences;
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to penetrate key accounts in Boston and the broader Northeastern US.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with prospective and existing life science clients, understanding their unique operational and compliance needs;
  • Act as a trusted advisor, providing tailored facility management and technical solutions to support client objectives (e.g., compliance, efficiency, sustainability).

Sales Execution

  • Lead end-to-end sales cycles: prospecting, proposal development, contract negotiation, and deal closure;
  • Present integrated facility management and technical solutions to life science clients through compelling pitches and proposals;
  • Meet and exceed sales targets aligned with company growth objectives in the life sciences sector.

Collaboration and Team Leadership

  • Collaborate with internal teams (operations, engineering, compliance, marketing) to deliver seamless solutions to life science clients;
  • Mentor junior sales team members, fostering a high-performance culture focused on life science sector growth.

Market Intelligence and Reporting

  • Stay updated on life science industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes (FDA, GMP, sustainability);
  • Maintain accurate sales pipeline and forecast data using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce);
  • Report on sales performance, market insights, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in the US;
  • Qualified to pass a security screening;
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field; advanced degree or certification in life sciences preferred;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in business development, sales, or facility management within the life sciences sector (pharma, biotech, GMP environments);
  • Demonstrated success engaging with executive-level stakeholders in life sciences organizations;
  • Strong understanding of facility management models, compliance requirements (FDA, GMP), and technical solutions for controlled environments;
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills;
  • Ability to travel regularly within the Boston area US;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and CRM tools;
  • Knowledge of energy conservation, sustainability, Process engineering, lab calibration, and digital solutions for life science facilities is an asset.
