Summary

Command Center, Utility Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the maintenance and operation of utility systems within a facility. They are responsible for operation and monitoring of equipment throughout campus. The technician must possess extensive knowledge and experience in utility systems, along with strong leadership and problem-solving skills.

 

Responsibilities

  • Regularly monitor BMS and CMS dashboards and control systems to detect and respond to alarms, irregularities, or fluctuations in building conditions (e.g., HVAC, water systems, critical utilities).
  • Promptly investigate and resolve alarms or anomalies in equipment operation, escalating issues as needed to minimize downtime or discomfort.
  • Maintain accurate logs of calls, alarms, incidents, and resolutions, and acknowledge as required within cGMP systems.
  • Operate equipment within the BMS to support preventative maintenance and end user needs. Acknowledge any alarms created by the maintenance activities and document appropriately following cGMP regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of utility systems to identify potential issues and develop preventive maintenance plans.
  • Troubleshoot complex problems with utility systems and equipment and provide technical expertise to resolve issues.
  • Support the maintenance team with basic troubleshooting and minor repairs as required to maintain optimal facility operations.
  • Collaborate with other facility and maintenance staff to report issues and ensure efficient coordination for system repairs or improvements.
  • Coordinate with other departments and external vendors to oversee repairs, maintenance, and equipment upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment history, and inventory.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and advancements in utility systems, and implement relevant changes as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the maintenance team.
  • Track and analyze data trends from BMS and CMS, identifying potential inefficiencies or performance issues and suggesting corrective actions.
  • Additional duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Is authorized to work in the US;
  • Is qualified to pass a security screening and medical examination;
  • A valid standard Driver’s License that permits the operation of a vehicle in Massachusetts.

  • In-depth knowledge of utility systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Proficient in computer software packages – specifically BMS and CMS systems
  • Competent in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to team members and stakeholders.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor.
