Equans is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Belfast, Northern Ireland on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, and benefits package.

General Overview  

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor role is responsible for providing proactive support to the Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor in the successful management and control of all aspects of commercial, financial, and contractual elements of designated projects. This includes assisting with preparation and administration of monthly applications and valuations, procuring and valuing sub-contractors’ accounts, and ensuring cost reports are managed and completed on time 

What will you deliver?

  • Cost Management: Assist in the preparation and analysis of project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports, ensuring accurate cost allocation and tracking against project milestones. 
  • Procurement Support: Aid in the procurement process, including the preparation of tender documents, evaluation of bids, and management of subcontractor and supplier relationships. 
  • Contract Administration: Support the administration of contracts, ensuring all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with legal and contractual requirements. In line with the ‘Equans Way’ and Golden Rule Framework.  
  • Valuation and Payments: Contribute to the valuation process for completed work, including interim payments to subcontractors and the preparation of final accounts. 
  • Risk Management: Assist in identifying and mitigating financial and contractual risks, helping to safeguard the company’s interests. 
  • Client and Stakeholder Liaison: Maintain effective communication with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring clarity and alignment on project financials and timelines. 
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare regular reports on project financial performance and assist in maintaining comprehensive project documentation for auditing and reference. 
  • Any other reasonable management request.

Who are we looking for?

  • A degree (or studying towards) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. 
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required.
