Equans is looking for a Facilities Manager  to join our team on the North Lanarkshire Schools contract based from Bellshill, ML4 3NJ. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and in addition you will receive an excellent benefits package.

We are recruiting a dynamic Facilities Manager to lead the full range of hard and soft facilities services within the North Lanarkshire Schools PFI contract. In this pivotal role, you will ensure safe, compliant, and inspiring learning environments where students and staff thrive. You will drive outstanding operational delivery, client satisfaction, financial control, and risk management while fostering a strong culture of health, safety, and safeguarding. As a leader, you will manage a dedicated FM team and collaborate closely with client representatives and school communities to make a tangible, positive impact every day. 


What will you deliver?

  • Lead day-to-day FM operations across multiple school sites under the PFI framework.
  • Ensure services meet contract requirements, output specifications, KPIs, and SLAs with excellence.
  • Manage both hard services (M&E, statutory maintenance, fabric) and soft services (cleaning, catering, security, grounds).
  • Act as the key liaison between FM providers, client teams, SPV, and school leadership.
  • Proactively manage contract performance, financial controls, and risk mitigation.
  • Champion health & safety compliance, safeguarding, and environmental sustainability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and leverage digital CAFM systems.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire your FM team to achieve high standards.

Who are we looking for?

Essential

  • Proven experience in facilities management, ideally within PFI/PPP or complex contractual environments.
  • Good understanding of building maintenance, M&E systems, and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge of PFI/PPP contract mechanisms, including payment mechanisms, KPIs, and service credits.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing subcontractors and in-house FM teams.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and frontline staff.
  • Working knowledge of CAFM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to lead by example, promote a strong safety culture, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Due to the nature of the role, post holder will be required to obtain and maintain Disclosure Scotland to PVG Level.

Desirable

  • Formal FM or related qualifications (e.g. IWFM/BIFM, HNC/HND in Building Services, IOSH, NEBOSH).
  • Experience managing, mobilisations, or multi-site contracts.
  • Experience within an educational setting and understanding of safeguarding requirements.
  • Experience of lifecycle planning and capital replacement programmes.
  • Project management experience and/or qualification.
  • Knowledge of sustainability, energy efficiency, and net-zero initiatives.
  • Experience with specific CAFM platforms (e.g. Maximo, Concept, Planon,).
  • Experience of working within an SPV / client interface structure.
