Fabricator Welder

EQUANS is looking for a Fabricator Welder to join our team at Heysham Power Station on a permanent basis for EDF. This is a full time role working 37 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

Job Description:

To fabricate and repair metal and related structures including fixed access platforms, gratings ladders and handrails. Enhanced duties may include the maintenance & repair of metal doors including Nuclear Significant Safety Doors

Technical Competence:

•Must demonstrate a methodical approach to tasks and plan accurately

•Able to follow technical drawings and plans

•Numerical ability for measuring and making calculations (material estimates and measurements)

•Knowledge of mechanical fabrication

•Knowledge of the safe operation of basic hand and power tools

Industry Qualifications:

•City & Guilds 229 Fabrication & Welding (Mandatory) OR

•Recognised Apprenticeship (Mandatory)

•EDF - Generic Dressing / Undressing for CCA (DUCCA) (Mandatory)

•EDF – Fire Prevention (Mandatory)

•EDF – Hot Works Assessor

•EDF – Foreign Materials Exclusion (Mandatory)

•EDF – Competent Person (Mandatory)

There is also an expectation to undertake further training as requested in line with the clients and Equans operational requirements

Accountabilities

Key Performance Indicators:

Planning & Organising

•Work with appropriate line supervisors to ensure that tasks are planned and delivered to client specification and agreed service requirements.

Operational Responsibilities

•Ensure compliance with statutory and company procedures, maintaining up to date knowledge of H/S and Environmental regulations

•Provide out of hours cover where required

•Complete relevant paperwork

•Compliant with all safety related policies and procedures

•Identification and reporting of areas and procedures that fail to meet expected standards (Safety, Technical and Environmental)

•Appropriate risk assessments undertaken on all work.

•Rectifies problems where appropriate (ensuring that the correct procedures are followed)

•All paperwork completed (permits, reports and work order cards) is accurate and submitted within set time scales.

Teamwork

•Establish good working relationships with other team members, provide guidance to others (e.g., apprentices)

•Willingly contribute to the overall team and company objectives, responding quickly to new directives

•Delivers/Contributes to pre-job briefs, exchanging ideas and putting forward suggestions to improve team performance.

•Positive feedback from other team members.

•Good communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels in a clear and concise manner. Interacting positively with the client and their representatives, proactively sharing information with others.

•Reads and understands the relevant generic Risk Assessment

•Ensures appropriate PPE is worn/used and is good working order

•Ensures work area is protected using appropriate barriers/signs

•Ensures full training has been received for each aspect of the job

•Ensures work area is left safe on completion of the job

This is a full time role to carry out repairs and maintenance work to the homes and properties repaired and maintained by the Company.

What will you deliver?

• Carry out safe isolation in accordance with industry standards and company processes and where necessary documenting it 
• Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring systems, equipment, and accessories, ensuring compliance with the electricity at work regulations 1989 (EAWR), BS 7671 the wiring regulations (latest edition), and the relevant guidance notes
• Inspection and testing of fixed wiring systems in accordance with BS 7671, guidance notes three and company & client processes
• Inspection and testing of In-service electrical equipment
• Design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of fire detection and fire alarm systems in domestic premises to BS5839-6 (Latest edition
• Finding, repairing or rectifying faults on fixed wiring systems using a multifunction tester and other relevant equipment
• Providing high-quality customer service and addressing client inquiries and concerns professionally

Who are we looking for?

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent qualification
• AM2
• Or qualifications that predate the above, however, you must be able to obtain an ECS gold card with the qualifications you hold
• Level 3 Award in the requirements of electrical installations BS 7671 (latest edition)
• Proven experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair within the construction industry
• Full UK Driving licence

Main Purpose of the Role

The Multi-Skilled Operative is responsible for carrying out repairs and maintenance work on homes and properties. This role operates in a multi-skilled environment, delivering high standards of customer care and satisfaction. The operative ensures that all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard, often in a single visit. 

What will you deliver?

• Execute all types of repair, maintenance, and refurbishment tasks in a multi-skilled capacity. 
• Complete repairs and maintenance across various trade disciplines where competent. 
• Attend and complete repair appointments punctually and within target times, aiming for first-time resolution. 
• Ensure the safe use and condition of company tools, equipment, and fleet vehicles.
