Shift Pattern: 4 Days on, 4 Days off (12-Hour Shifts)

About the Role:
We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the Institute of Cancer Research in Chelsea. This is a dynamic and crucial role, where you’ll coordinate resources and ensure the smooth operation of building systems, providing exceptional service to our clients. Your work will directly impact the operational success and sustainability of the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor sub-contractors to ensure tasks are completed to the highest standards.
- Produce detailed shift reports, documenting significant works and developments on-site.
- Manage and resolve reactive tasks efficiently, ensuring plant faults are swiftly addressed and equipment remains serviceable.
- Maintain up-to-date shift logs and ensure all paperwork for PPM, reactive works, and breakdowns is accurate and submitted promptly.
- Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments to ensure safe working practices at all times.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, ensuring the professional image of the company is upheld.
- Support compliance with contractual KPIs/SLA’s and ensure the provision of a safe and healthy working environment.
- Proactively contribute to improving site processes and plant efficiency.
- Take ownership of the Permit to Work system, ensuring tasks are completed in accordance with safety standards.
What We’re Looking For:
- A technical background with an HNC/HND/Foundation Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field is highly advantageous.
- Apprenticeship in mechanical maintenance desirable; previous experience in hospital/life sciences is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems such as Pumps, AHUs, HVAC, and basic Electrical systems.
- Experience with CAFMs and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
- A flexible approach to work, with the ability to step in for holiday and sickness cover when needed.
- Must possess a clear and calm mindset in high-pressure situations, with a keen focus on Health & Safety and Sustainability.
