Equans is looking for a Head of UK IT PMO to join our team on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.
As the Head of IT PMO, you will be responsible for establishing and leading the Project Management Office within the UK IT division. You will work hand in hand with all IT departments and the UK Business and create a PMO community of practice.
You will champion innovative ways of working, maintaining professional standards and developing a PMO community of practice to achieve excellence. Your leadership will foster a collaborative and dynamic culture that delivers results for our internal customers and drives us to our strategic goals. By utilising data and tools, you will drive continuous improvement and ensure robust control and governance across the UK IT landscape.
To succeed in this role, you will need excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, strong facilitation and presentation abilities, analytical skills, and a strong level of financial management expertise.

What will you deliver?
- Strategic Alignment: The Head of PMO ensures that all projects are aligned with the organisation’s strategic objectives, helping to drive the business forward and achieve long-term goals
- Governance and Control: This role establishes robust governance frameworks, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. Managing our risks & issues and maximizing the efficient use of resources
- Standardisation: Implementing standardised Delivery methodologies across teams, the Head of PMO will ensure consistency and best practices across Delivery, leading to more predictable and successful outcomes
- Resource & prioritisation Optimisation: The Head of PMO will be responsible for the optimal allocation of resources and priorities, ensuring that the right skills and capacities are available, which enhances productivity and efficiency
- Performance Measurement: This role will involve developing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure project success, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous improvement
- Leadership and Mentorship: The Head of PMO will provide guidance, support, and mentorship to project managers and team members, fostering a culture of excellence and professional growth
- Stakeholder Engagement: The Head of PMO will foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and collaboration
- Change Management: The Head of PMO will play a pivotal role in managing change, ensuring that projects are smoothly integrated and adopted within the organisation, thereby minimising disruption
- Ownership of Project management tools: The Head of PMO will take ownership of all project management tools and ensure the development and maintenance of a comprehensive roadmap for their continuous improvement. This includes implementing and integration, training and support. By fulfilling these responsibilities, the Head of PMO will ensure that project management tools are effectively utilized and continually optimized to drive project success
- Bring alignment between Portfolio leads, PMO and agile, product and service delivery

Who are we looking for?
- Strong and successful PMO or high value Project & Programme management experience within an IT context
- Managing different but interconnected programmes & projects
- Delivering via direct resources and matrix resources
- Successful management of 3rd party vendors
- Successful leadership and people management experience
- Experience in building a developing a delivery team
- Experience of data driven delivery
- Ability to understand and manage business stakeholder relationships, their needs, their priorities and their drivers
- Good communication skills across a range of channels and audiences to clearly explain ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to logically break down a problem to identify constituent parts and root causes
- The ability to use a variety of techniques to undertake analyse and deconstruct problem
- Experience with Power BI or similar tools
- Ability to translate complex ideas and concepts into straightforward and simple to understand outputs
- Must have facilitation techniques to manage stakeholders at all levels in meetings/workshops and to accurately record agreed outcomes and ensure follow-up activity is tracked and completed
- Must have negotiation and influencing skills to progress actions/issues and gain agreement/sign-off of deliverables
- Desirable to have experience of development and requirements management tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Team Services. Must have experience of MS Applications including Visio
- Must have good interpersonal skill and the ability to listen, question and interpret stakeholder requirements and build on-going relationships
