Role Purpose

As a Trades Assistant – HVAC and Refrigeration, you will support qualified tradespeople and technicians in servicing and installing mechanical HVAC and refrigeration equipment. Your role will be vital in maintaining safety, quality, and customer satisfaction standards, contributing directly to our goals and budgets. Please note, this position excludes electrical work and refrigerant handling. On-the-job training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist HVAC tradesmen with service and installation tasks.
• Perform inspections, maintenance, and testing of HVAC and refrigeration equipment under supervision.
• Support planned and reactive maintenance of water and air treatment systems.
• Assist with general labour duties, including delivery of materials, fire damper testing, filter cleaning, and plantroom upkeep.
• Maintain professional communication with clients and colleagues.
• Manage administrative tasks such as call reports and timesheets.
• Participate in toolbox meetings, training, and workplace safety audits.
• Comply with company policies and safety regulations, promoting a strong culture of health and safety.

What you need

• A strong desire to develop a career in building services, particularly commercial and industrial HVAC/refrigeration.
• Previous trade or construction labour experience advantageous but not mandatory.
• Basic understanding of codes and standards relevant to HVAC and refrigeration.

Your Skills & Qualifications

• NCEA Level 2 or equivalent minimum education.
• Technical certificates or licenses in relevant areas preferred.
• Current full New Zealand driver’s licence.
• Site Safe Building Construction pass preferred.
