We are currently recruiting for a Gas Engineer to join our Stoke Schools contract team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the maintenance of safe, efficient heating and gas systems within an educational setting.

What You’ll Do:
As a member of our internal Stoke Schools engineering team, you will be responsible for both planned and reactive gas works across the site. Your key duties will include:

  • Fault finding, repair, and maintenance of gas-fired boiler plants and heating systems.
  • Performing regular planned maintenance on gas plant equipment.
  • Reporting lifecycle and defect information for gas systems.
  • Providing regular updates to the helpdesk on the progress of work orders.
  • Supporting other engineering disciplines when required.
  • Coordinating and managing daily Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities.
  • Organizing and scheduling works to meet contractual obligations.
  • Ensuring Health & Safety guidelines and regulations are followed on-site.
  • Responding to emergency call-outs and providing detailed incident reports.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients and site staff.

Who We’re Looking For:
To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A recognised Gas Qualification to City & Guilds/NVQ standard (both Commercial and Domestic).
  • Strong understanding of risk assessments and safe working practices with gas equipment.
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety protocols.
  • Background in Facilities Management (FM), preferably in a PFI environment.
  • IPAF (MEWP) qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • A full, valid driving licence.
  • Approved apprenticeship in a relevant trade, or at least 4 years of practical experience in the industry.
  • Experience with gas tightness testing, purging, commercial burner controls, and combustion commissioning.
  • Ability to read technical diagrams and communicate complex information clearly.
  • A DBS enhanced check is required, and the ability to pass this is essential.
