EQUANS is looking for a Traffic Technician to join our team in Grimsby. This is a permanent role working full time hours plus overtime. On offer is a competitive salary between £26,053 – £27,252 depending on skills and experience and benefits package.

What will you deliver? 

Working as part of the Traffic & Road Safety team the Traffic Technician will assist the Traffic & Road Safety Co-ordinator with the delivery of the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) programme and provision of traffic and road safety engineering projects within North East Lincolnshire.

As part of the Traffic and Road Safety team the role will be responsible for developing schemes in support of the Council’s emerging Vision Zero Road Safety strategy that aims to reduce the number and severity of traffic related collisions and injuries on our local roads. 

On a day-to-day basis you may be required to communicate directly with various groups of people, sometimes on matters that may be contentious or complex, requiring tact, persuasion and sensitivity. You will also need to be a team player and adaptable to work across multiple teams within Equans and North East Lincolnshire Council providing support and technical input into a range of highway and regeneration projects. 

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to play a key role in helping develop and deliver a key transport policy in support of the Council’s Local Transport Plan.   • Providing responses to queries from Councillors, Parish Councils and the general public in relation to all aspects of traffic and road safety in North East Lincolnshire Council producing reports and general correspondence and attending meetings when required.
  • Developing Traffic Regulation Orders in line with the approved processes, this includes carrying out public consultation, preparing drawings and plans (using AutoCAD), developing & presenting recommendations and drafting Legal Orders.
  • Providing traffic and road safety advice to working groups and Officers in the development of projects as appropriate.
  • Maintaining regular contact with Humberside Police in relation to road safety matters and where necessary attend partnership meetings.
  • Responding to formal service requests on behalf of the Traffic & Road Safety team within areas of expertise.
  • Contributing to the delivery of the Regeneration Partnership’s road safety KPIs
  • Assisting with development and delivery of the Local Transport Plan (LTP) traffic and road safety programmes.
  • Maintaining the Highway Asset Management Register database on behalf of the Transport & Traffic team.

Who are we looking for? 

  •  Experience of working with specialist IT systems including AutoCAD and Keysoft suite of software
  • Experience of collecting, analysing and reporting on performance indicators
  • Knowledge of highways, traffic & transport related matters including the Local Transport Plan strategy
  • Experience of working within a Local Authority or Partnership organisation
  • Budget management experience
  • Awareness of health and safety
