Summary

The Regional Director, reporting to VP FM Operations, is responsible for the activities and personnel related to the operation and maintenance of the assigned facilities under his/her management.  He/she is responsible for quality control, financial results, maintaining relations with customers, professionals and suppliers, and ensuring customer satisfaction, while taking a very health and safety-oriented approach to the workplace. He/she regularly provides the VP of Operations with a summary of important elements relating to the management of contracts under his/her responsibility. This position is also responsible for the implementation, execution and monitoring of company policies.

Responsibilities

Operations

  • Directs, supervises and provides experience and technical assistance to the managers and employees under his/her responsibility in order to ensure compliance with our contractual commitments and the maintenance of our quality standards in the execution of services.
  • Ensure that site managers apply a work methodology and comply with standards in terms of technical, administrative and budgetary management of contracts.  To this end, put in place the necessary procedures to standardize working methods.
  • Carry out periodic quality control visits and ensure that recommendations are implemented.
  • Participate in periodic meetings with customers, maintain good relations with them and resolve contentious and/or conflictual situations in day-to-day management.
  • Validate the content of monthly reports.
  • Coordinate activities required to meet contractual commitments with other company departments.
  • Contribute to business development by generating new opportunities and adding new services.

Personnel Management

  • Determine and monitor annual objectives and evaluate staff under his/her supervision according to the current process. Validate objectives, performance appraisals and salary increase carried out by site managers under his/her responsibility.
  • Maintain good communication with team members and manage labour relations issues as required.
  • Process personnel requests, transfers and promotions within his/her teams and conduct interviews.
  • Ensure appropriate team training.

Health & Safety

  • Inform and train employees about EQUANS safety rules.
  • Implement equipment and procedures to ensure compliance with EQUANS rules including, among others, risk analysis before performing a task.
  • Identify and implement HSE improvements including in some cases the customer.

Finance

  • Ensure the preparation of operating and capital budgets for the buildings under its management.
  • Closely monitor the results of each contract and forecasts for the coming months.
  • Create action plans to improve contracts that do not meet budgets.

Business development and operations

  • In collaboration with your superior and the business development team, manage the commercial aspects of existing contracts: prepare amendments, new contract proposals, service proposals.
  • Participate in the preparation of calls for tender and the selection of subcontractors in collaboration with other departments.
  • Actively collaborate in the identification of opportunities and the preparation of service offers.

Requirements 

  • Authorized to work in Canada;
  • Must be able to pass all background checks and the required security level; 
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in building, energy or electricity, or any equivalent combination of training and relevant experience;
  • 5-10 years of relevant leadership experience in Hard Facility Management (FM);
  • Good knowledge of electromechanical equipment and Facility Management activities (Soft FM and Hard FM);
  • Knowledge of MS Office (particularly Excel);
  • Experience with tools such as COUPA, CONCUR, Planon;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Valid Driving License
