Equans is looking for Maintenance Assistant to join our team onsite at Argyle House in Edinburgh, EH3 9DS. This is a full time permanent role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and excellent benefits package.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 6am – 3pm (1 hour lunch)
We are looking for a reliable Maintenance Assistant to support day-to-day maintenance activities and ensure equipment and plant run smoothly across our sites. You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks, maintain records, and support the wider maintenance team.
What will you deliver?
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) accurately and document all work in real time using PDAs, including logging start, wait, stop, completion, and travel times with comprehensive comments.
- Complete all relevant paperwork for PPM, reactive, and breakdown tasks, ensuring timely submission to the contract administrator; complete supplementary forms as required.
- Update client CAFM systems with detailed records of task progress and outcomes.
- Respond promptly to reactive maintenance tasks and identify areas for improvement; report plant failures and issue quotations to the line manager.
- Remedy plant faults swiftly within delegated authority or client authorization to maintain equipment serviceability.
- Maintain and manage spare parts inventory and provide parts lists and estimated timelines for remedial work.
- Conduct Point of Work Risk Assessments (POWRA) and ensure all tasks are executed with up-to-date Method Statements and Risk Assessments, adhering to strict safety and SHEQ standards.
- Operate the Permit to Work system following Equans and client protocols.
- Participate in mandatory and skills training to maintain competency.
- Foster strong working relationships with Equans staff, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Uphold the professional image of Equans at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness and order of all plant rooms under Equans’ responsibility.
- Supervise subcontractors on site during maintenance activities.
- Comply with contractual KPIs and SLAs and participate in regional on-call rotas for out-of-hours breakdown response.
- Ensure tools and test equipment are regularly audited and safe to use.
- Monitor and manage oil levels for heating systems, ordering supplies as necessary.
- Escort and provide site access to landlords, clients, and contractors, and oversee contractor inductions.
- Maintain regular communications with landlords, client staff, contractors, and on-site teams.
- Perform any additional Maintenance duties as reasonably requested.

Who are we looking for?

- Good communicator within EQUANS Services, the clients, other service partners and suppliers.
- Able to deal diplomatically with the client’s demanding personnel

- Be able to undertake a physical job.
- Fluent in English both written and oral.
- Must be available to participate in an out of hour’s standby rota.
