Equans is looking for a Head of SPV Management to join the team on a permanent basis in London. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.
Management of the team to deliver management services to PFI Project Companies (SPVs) to ensure that the obligations of the Project Companies in the PFI contracts are met and the Directors of the Project Companies are sufficiently informed to manage the Project Companies.
The role includes directly managing services to two SPVs and overseeing delivery of another contract. Key responsibilities Liaise with and report to the company Board of Directors and ensuring that the obligations under the Management Services Agreements for each Company are fulfilled.
What will you deliver?
- Ensure the management of the PFI contracts for and on behalf of the shareholders and company Board, as well as ensuring that the requirement within the Project Agreement and Schedules and associated contractual requirements are always adhered to
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with the Client management teams (in particular the leader of this team) and relevant stakeholders such as School Boards, Trust Boards, local councils, neighbourhood associations, etc
- Maintain good working relationships with the contract senior leaders and SPV sub-contractor management teams
- Ensure appropriate audit and validation of sub-contractor performance is undertaken to provide assurance the SPV Boards regarding sub-contractor performance
- Ensure appropriate end of contract plans are implemented to allow the Project Company to plan for expiry of the contracts
- Ensure that all reporting obligations to the stakeholders are met, maintaining and updating the Project Diaries for the relevant projects accordingly
- Ensure all contractual insurances are maintained and renewed as required and manage the progress of any claims made against such policies
- Ensure that contract variation processes are followed, ensuring all documentation is appropriately authorised by the Parties
- Ensure budgets and forecasts are prepared and presented to the Company Boards(to be approved by the Company Board) for project finance and SPV management costs. Manage the costs to ensure approved budgets and forecasts are met
- Ensure proper and diligent management of funds is maintained in accordance with the borrowing covenants and appropriate reporting is made to lenders
- Manage the procurement and appointment of consultants and advisers, seeking Board approval where required
- Liaise with and report to the company Board as required by the Board
- Ensure that the obligations under the Management Services Agreements are fulfilled
- To fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company’s Health & Safety Policy and Health & Safety Management Plans
- To comply with the Company’s Policies, Management Plans and Procedures
- To undertake such other duties appropriate to the level and character of work as may reasonably be required within the Department / Service. Significant permanent changes in duties will require agreed revisions to be made to this Job Description

Who are we looking for?
- Experience of project / long term finance, PPP & PFI arrangements
- Excellent commercial and customer relationship skills
- Knowledge of business assurance / risk management systems
- Ability to effectively articulate arguments and influence key stakeholders, including peers and seniors
- Experience of delivering PFI Facility Management contracts
- In depth understanding of payment mechanisms in PFI contracts and systems used to track performance
- Understanding of PFI financing arrangements and financial models
This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
