Role Purpose
The O&M Manager is accountable for the overall operational, financial, contractual and HSE
performance of the O&M portfolio in Australia.
The role leads O&M Engineers, Site Managers and field teams while ensuring contractual
commitments are achieved, risks are appropriately managed and clients receive a high level of service.
The position requires a balance of technical understanding, leadership capability and
commercial awareness.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Operations/ Technical Management
• Monitor and track the Performance Ratio and Availability of the solar farms.
• Ensure O&M Engineers and Site Managers effectively plan and execute preventive and
corrective maintenance activities.
• Manage contractors, service providers, and OEM relationships while maintaining accurate
maintenance records and asset documentation.
• Ensure that all changes to the solar assets are managed in accordance with the Change
Management Procedure.
• Ensure smooth operation of the Control Room and personnel rosters is maintained to
provide continuous 365-day services.
• Respond to negative trends and issues, create and implement action plans to improve
operational performance. Lead root-cause analysis for recurring technical issues.
• Identify and propose improvement to the clients and company leaders to consider.
• Review and ensure complete, accurate timely reporting for the clients.
• Provide clear and concise reporting to senior management on asset performance,
contractual compliance, risk exposure and budget status.
• Regularly conduct Manager site visits to ensure that maintenance and supervision of the
sites are adequate.
Leadership and Team Management
• Lead and develop a team of O&M Engineers, Site Managers and field electricians.
• Establish clear objectives, responsibilities and performance expectations across the
organisation.
• Ensure effective delegation of technical and operational activities to O&M Engineers.
• Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Manage the training programme to ensure that all Team Members’ training needs are met.
• Develop succession planning and talent development initiatives.
• With the support of the Industrial Relations Manager, competently handle any matters
related to Industrial Relations.
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)
• Promote and maintain a positive safety culture in the O&M Team and subcontractors,
ensuring that all work is done in compliance with the Company’s Global Safety Essentials
and all legislative requirements.
• Conduct site audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Manage the safety obligations of the O&M Team including inspections, KPI tracking, and
auditing.
Client / Contract Management
• Own contractual compliance across the O&M portfolio.
• In collaboration with the Commercial and Legal teams, manage contractual matters
related to O&M, including warranties, variation orders, claims, subcontracts and services
agreements.
• Act as the primary representative of the Company when dealing with clients,
subcontractors, vendors and communities in matters related to O&M.
• Ensure contractual obligations are understood and implemented by the O&M teams.
Risk Management & Budget Control
• Identify, assess and mitigate operational, contractual, financial and HSE risks and
opportunities across the O&M portfolio.
• Maintain risk registers and ensure mitigation actions are implemented.
• Escalate material risks and opportunities to senior management in a timely manner.
• Own annual budgeting, forecasting and cost control activities.
• Ensure financial resources are managed efficiently while supporting operational
excellence.
Procurement
• Review and approve procurement decisions, including those related to spare parts, tools
and equipment, consumables, etc.
• Make competent procurement decisions and run efficient tenders to ensure the best
value of all goods & services used in O&M.
• Working with the Contracts Administration, Procurement & Logistics, Finance, Cost
Control and Accounts Payable teams, act as the primary co-ordinator to ensure smooth
procurement, delivery and payment of goods & services.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Engineering, Asset
Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in operations and maintenance within the renewable
energy, power generation, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
• Demonstrated leadership capability or strong leadership potential.
• Ability to manage and influence multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication and reporting skills. Ability to engage with senior management and
clients.
• Contract management and customer relationship capabilities.
• Strong safety culture. Knowledge of Australian electrical safety and HSE regulations.
• Valid Australian driver’s license.
