Engineering Manager - Planned Maintenance
Equans is looking for an Engineering Manager - Planned Maintenance to join our team at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, PO6 3LY on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £53,000 - £55,000 per annum dependent upon skills and experience. What will you deliver?
- Maintain and develop Statutory/Mandatory compliant systems to support the delivery of a professional Hard Facilities Management function at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, to ensure compliance with the Contract, relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
- Coordinate and plan remedial repairs by contractors and site staff which require parts or services with lead times.
- Give technical support to Control Room staff in the correct allocation of Planned Maintenance Tasks to appropriately qualified engineering staff or sub-contractors.
- Responsible for ensuring full contractual compliance for availability of assets which will include the development of appropriate maintenance strategies and the undertaking of all planned work, liaise with Technical and Compliance Manager
- To plan and deliver all statutory, mandatory, and preventative maintenance.

- Develop and maintain the 5-year Asset Life Cycle replacement plan for agreement with THC.

Customer Service Representative

We have an exciting opportunity for a Customer Service Representative to join our Helpdesk team at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. This is a full-time permanent position working 40 hours per week, 5 days from 7. Shift times are 7.5 hours per day between 07:00 and 19:00. Please note this role involves working one weekend in every three.
The role:
- To provide a professional FM Helpdesk service
- To receive calls and enter the details onto the CAFM system to enable the works to be completed
- Contact relevant subcontractor and co-ordinate site visits
- To support the planned maintenance programme by generating jobs and updating the system when work is complete
- Raise Purchase Orders, invoicing, and other ad-hoc administration support to the department
- Working 40 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day between 07:00 and 19:00, 5 days from 7 with a 30 minute unpaid break
The person:
- Must have experience of providing excellent customer service ideally in a helpdesk environment
- Knowledge of a CAFM system desirable – Maximo
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Able to work as part of a team and autonomously
- Must have good IT skills (able to use email, management systems, databases)
- Well organised and able to prioritise workload

Maintenance Assistant
Equans is looking for a Maintenance Assistant (Mechanical) to work on our contract with Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals. This is a permanent, full-time role, working 40 hours per week, between the hours 08:00 - 16:30, Monday to Friday. On offer is a salary of £24,000 per annum and benefits package.
What will you deliver?
- Undertake a proactive role in carrying out first response to reactive jobs and complete the higher level tasks such as Vent cleans, Light Cleans, Unblocking of toilets Etc.
- Undertake a proactive role in carrying out the high level maintenance and inspection of mechanical, electrical and associated building services. All in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and in compliance with legislation and guidance
- As part of a engineering team you will carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks to various Services across site on various aspects of the building services in accordance with the PPM programme and personal competence and training
- Respond in a timely manner to ad-hoc breakdown requests as identified by supervisor / manager or as a minimum, as per site contract
- Assist in Carrying out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works
- Ensure liaison with Wards and Departments as required, ensuring there is minimum disruption whilst carrying out work
- Undertake training where necessary to learn other skills and to maintain and develop the requirements of the service

Design Manager
EQUANS is looking for a Design Manager to join our Team in Hatfield. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance and benefits package.
The main purpose of this role is to lead design from pre-construction through to construction, taking full technical responsibility for allocated projects. The Design Manager will also provide full design and technical support during the tendering process.
Experience in leading the design of major refurbishment, fire remediation, and re-cladding of Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs) is advantageous.
This role may include line management of an Assistant Design Coordinator, Design Coordinator, or Senior Design Coordinator.
What will you deliver?
Design and Technical Responsibilities:
- Lead consultant and survey tendering and procurement.
- Conduct thorough design risk appraisals to support tenders.
- Review Employer's Requirements (ERs) and contribute to Contractor’s Proposals.
- Develop robust design and preconstruction programmes for tenders.
- Lead client meetings during bid and preconstruction phases as required.
- Manage consultant and survey appointments, ensuring scope and terms align with project needs.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with consultants.
- Ensure design fee budgets are managed effectively and within scope.
- Obtain consultant design programmes and integrate them into a single detailed design delivery programme.
- Track and report progress against design delivery programmes.
- Chair design team meetings and communicate clear expectations for deliverables.
- Monitor consultant performance and ensure timely delivery of high-quality design information.
- Review all design information for compliance with contracts, buildability, cost-effectiveness, and statutory regulations.
- Monitor design changes and manage change control processes.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with the Commercial Team for cost validation.
- Lead the resolution of design and technical queries to support preconstruction and project teams.
- Liaise with Clients and Key Stakeholders to ensure expectations are met.
- Ensure compliance with all Statutory Matters including Building Regulations, Building Warranty, and Planning Conditions.
- Work closely with the Principal Designer (BR) to meet statutory requirements under the Building Safety Act.
- Obtain any required licenses, permissions, or approvals for project execution including but not limited to Highways and Drainage Section Agreements, Rail, Waterways, Crane Oversailing, Street Works, Temporary Crossovers, etc.
- Lead design reviews and client presentations
Process Improvement and Team Development:
- Provide support, mentorship, and guidance to Design Coordinators.
- Contribute to the motivation and professional development of the design team.
- Stay informed on industry updates, regulatory changes, and new product developments.
- Support digital transformation initiatives within the design team, including BIM implementation and digital design review processes.
Safety:
- Ensure all design information complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Work closely with the Principal Designer to meet statutory requirements under the Building Safety Act.

Maintenance Electrician

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join our team providing building services maintenance at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week, 7am-3.30pm/10am-6.30pm (alternating weekly) Monday to Friday.
The role:
- Reporting to the Shift Lead / Operations Manager
- To deliver electrical planned and reactive maintenance and scheduled installation works
- To oversee specialist sub-contractors, and manage contractors as necessary, working to a safe system of work and permit-to-work system
- To ensure that PPM and Reactive tasks are attended to in accordance with the contract timescales at all times.
- To cover for other technicians as necessary
- To participate in the on call rota, and carry out overtime as required

The person:
- Must hold a recognised electrical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to minimum level 2 (theory and practice) in a relevant electrical discipline with suitable industry experience.

- Must be able to work independently and when appropriate as part of a team.
- Willing to attain cross skilling
- Must have extensive experience of building services in a maintenance role

Mechanical Technician
Equans is looking for a Mechanical Technician (Water) to work on our contract with Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals. This is a permanent, full-time role, working 40 hours per week, between the hours 08:00 - 16:30, Monday to Friday. On offer is a salary of £32,000 - £36,000 per annum, dependent upon skills and experience and benefits package.
What will you deliver?
- Perform the complete range of Mechanical Technician (Water) tasks as required or directed by management
- Be knowledgeable of and to work to the current regulations, codes of practice, Health & Safety regulations, and all safety rules both Equans and Statutory
- Understand the operation of water systems and to correctly apply this knowledge and understand during the performance of Estates Services maintenance and testing activities
- Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings, and specifications appropriate to his/her own trade, without supervision
- Ensure all PPM work is carried out effectively in compliance with maintenance instructions
- Maintain records and logbooks, ensuring they are kept up to date and available for inspection
- Record information as required for the operation of Maximo or similar system
- Take part in out of hours on call as per business needs
- After appropriate training, work off tower scaffolding, MEWP’s, ladders, and step ladders and within confined spaces
