Equans is looking for an Category Manager to join our team on a 12 month FTC. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

This is a hybrid role 

The role holder will work in the Central Procurement team and is responsible for managing key procurement hard services categories including Fire & Security, Building Management Systems and Lifts & Doors. The role involves creating and implementing a long-term plan for the development of the categories to maintaining key preferred and strategic supplier relationships on behalf of Equans UK. 

What will you deliver?

  • Creating and implementing category segmentation and mapping it with group segmentation.
  • Creating long-term category plans following a gap-analysis and assessing future procurement requirements.
  • Creating an internal stakeholder network around key categories with representation from all business lines. Develop the category strategy supported by targets and KPIs for implementation in all business areas of the business.
  • Monitoring category spend and compliance with the category strategy.
  • Identifying and report saving opportunities and monitoring achievement of saving targets through category actions.
  • Identify risks and potential ESG considerations related to the categories and create adequate controls through available channels to address such risks.
  • Communicate industry / supplier related information to all relevant stakeholders in a timely manner to manage business risks.
  • Organise periodic business review meetings with key preferred / strategic suppliers.
  • Liaise with key suppliers to introduce new ideas, innovations to the business that may result in internal business process improvements or improving our business offering to our clients.
  • Challenging status quo within sourcing projects and strategies and driving team to think innovatively about value extraction.
  • Fulfil reporting requirements that may be requested from senior stakeholders from time to time.
  • Supporting in creation of group category strategy (where applicable) and any transversal actions that need to be fulfilled as part of that.
  • Support Business Development teams and wider Procurement team in order to align bidding activities and improve mobilisation process.
  • Act as a point of escalation and endeavour to resolve disputes between preferred suppliers and Equans.
  • Identify and highlight process improvements to relevant internal stakeholders.

  • Excellent financial acumen with an ability to analyse complex data and documentation with accuracy.
  • Skilled negotiator with proven experience in a procurement / commercial environment.
  • Sound understanding of risk analysis/management.
  • PC Literate with knowledge of MS applications e.g. Word, Excel, Power point and procurement systems and process.
  • Understanding and practical application of base UK law applicable to Commercial / contracts.
  • Ability to turn complex processes and procedures into a simple framework.
