We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Business Partner on a 12 month fixed term contract basis to support our Connected Cities business based from Bevis on a hybrid working pattern.
Role overview
Working with the SFBP to establish and maintain financial and management procedures across Connected Cities. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and to provide financial advice, guidance and support to colleagues
Key activities:
Financial & Commercial Leadership
- Prepare financial information and interpretation of the numbers for areas under your responsibility
- Assist with undertaking proactive analytical and other investigations, contributing to developing a better understanding of the business and improving operational performance
- Cash flow forecasting
- Assist in the production of the short to medium term Budgets under the control of the SFBP
- Partner with the management team to shape and manage performance KPI’s where appropriate
- Support in the delivery of all financial processes
- Provide proactive support into contract decision making initiatives
- Drive for value at the bottom line, with a focus on revenue enhancement / protection and on cost saving opportunities.
Budget & Forecasting
- Accountable for the preparation of the company budget and rolling forecasts, including monthly flash results, and monthly business performance reviews
- Report on variances from the established budget and rolling forecasts, and the reasons for those variances including reporting and KPI analysis, and including suggested corrective actions and options to mitigate
- Balance sheet management to ensure any investment is properly controlled and forecasted
- Ensure key sector risks and opportunities are fully understood, managed / progressed and communicated. Identify best ways of optimising
Financial Accounting & Audit
- Accountable for the accuracy of D&ES Embedded Energy Financial data in the company’s financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems
- Accountable for the preparation and ensuring accuracy of the year end and monthly financial accounts and managing information
- Liaising with the auditors to ensure annual audits are completed on time and without error
- Accountable for full balance sheet reconciliations as applicable
- Keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation
Management Accounting
- Lead the preparation of monthly analysis of the financial statements including variance analysis providing explanations and business solutions to help mitigate the risks
- Analyse financial performance against key business metric and document pertinent finial highlights that will enable management to determine progress against budget
Skills, qualifications & experience:
- Previous experience with operational management accounts
- Must be able to evaluate complex data and have sound problem solving skills
- Self-motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to effectively multitask and work unsupervised
- Strong Excel knowledge
- Must be willing to travel to multi sites to support operational teams
- Ideally CIMA or ACCA part-qualified (or working towards)
