Context & Role Challenges:
As part of the development of our renewable energy activities in Australia, the Energy BU is continuing to structure its local entity to support the execution of large-scale projects (solar farms, battery energy storage systems, including associated high-voltage substations and transmission lines) carried out within internal joint-venture frameworks.
The current entity is composed of 40 employees across commercial, technical, and operations teams, with coordination currently managed from France.
In this context, the Country Manager will represent the entity to Clients, Employees, and Partners. They will oversee operations from the commercial phase through project completion and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Group policies as well as the economic, contractual, and operational performance of the projects.
Main Responsibilities:
- General Management & Business Development
Define and implement the country strategy in alignment with the BU’s overall strategy.
Develop and structure the portfolio of solar and battery storage (BESS) projects, from early development to commissioning.
Represent the Group with local partners, institutions, authorities, investors, and JV partners.
Manage internal joint ventures in close coordination with headquarters, ensuring effective governance and smooth collaboration with Group entities.
- Team Management
Lead and unite a multidisciplinary team including commercial, engineering, construction, O&M, and support functions.
Develop team capabilities, collective performance, and engagement in a multicultural environment.
Foster a culture of leadership, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Project Oversight & EPC Execution
Supervise large-scale EPC projects (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) such as major solar farms, hybrid solar-battery projects, and standalone battery systems.
Ensure compliance with cost, schedule, quality, HSE, and technical performance requirements.
Coordinate effectively across engineering, procurement, construction, partners, and subcontractors.
- Contract & Financial Management
Oversee all contractual aspects of the projects (EPC contracts, supplier agreements, JV agreements, PPAs where applicable).
Manage contractual risks, claims, variations, penalties, and complex negotiations.
Ensure project profitability, budget monitoring, and financial performance indicators.
- Governance, Reporting & Compliance
Provide regular reporting to the Group (project progress, risks, financial performance).
Ensure compliance with local regulatory standards, ethical requirements, and Group policies.
Play a key role in managing country-level risks (legal, contractual, political, operational).
Candidate Profile:
Education
– Advanced degree (Master’s, Engineering School, Business School, or equivalent).
Experience
Experienced manager with significant international exposure (minimum 5 years).
Proven experience in the renewable energy sector, ideally in solar farms and/or battery storage projects.
Strong background in EPC project management with substantial contractual responsibilities.
Experience working in JV environments and/or multi-entity project structures is a plus.
