Multiskilled Engineer

Equans is looking for a Multiskilled Engineer to join our team in Motherwell. This is a full-time role. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

• Perform installation, maintenance, repair, testing, and commissioning of electronic, electrical, control, monitoring, and building services equipment.
• Conduct planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across electrical, electronic, and control systems.
• Diagnose faults efficiently using appropriate test equipment and implement effective corrective actions with minimal downtime.
• Inspect, test, maintain, and repair electronic control panels, sensors, actuators, instrumentation, monitoring systems, and associated low-voltage equipment.
• Support the maintenance and fault finding of building management systems (BMS), access control, CCTV, fire alarm, intruder alarm, and other electronic systems where required.
• Read and interpret electrical and electronic drawings, circuit diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, and manufacturers’ instructions.
• Collaborate closely with project teams, site managers, and clients to ensure seamless service execution.
• Carry out minor associated building services tasks, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and decorating, where required.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, faults identified, materials used, test results, and time spent.
• Ensure compliance with company quality standards, health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Maintain and care for company tools, electronic test equipment, and other equipment, and keep the work area clean and tidy.
• Fulfil any Appointed Person / Responsible Person requirements across the sites.
• Manage company van responsibilities, including care and key-holding duties.

Who are you?

• Proven experience as a multi-skilled engineer with an electronics bias in facilities management, building services, industrial, manufacturing, or similar environments.
• Strong practical knowledge of electronic systems, electrical installations, controls, instrumentation, and associated monitoring systems.
• Experience in fault finding, testing, repair, and maintenance of electronic and electrical control systems.
• Familiarity with BMS, sensors, actuators, instrumentation, security systems, fire and life-safety systems, or other building-related electronic systems.
• Ability to use electrical and electronic test equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, electrical and electronic schematics, circuit diagrams, and manuals.
• Good problem-solving skills, with strong organisational and time-management abilities.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Current relevant certifications and qualifications – Electrical or Electronic NVQ Level 3, or equivalent.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites as required.
