EQUANS are looking for a Maintenance Assistant for our Leeds Oncology contract. This role would be a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week at St James’ University Hospital. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview:
To provide a customer facing highly responsive maintenance service to the Leeds Oncology Wing
To undertake a wide range of minor repairs, cleaning and planned maintenance tasks and carry these out quickly and efficiently to a high standard
To work with and assist other members of the maintenance team as required
Working hours to be 40 hours per week Monday – Friday 08:00 – 17:00.
Impact:
•Minimise service / contract impact by responding in a timely manner to all maintenance job requests in accordance with The Equans estates maintenance contact.

Complexity:
•Water temperature monitoring — Record and log daily water temperatures across wards, plant rooms, and clinical areas to support Legionella control.
•Tap and outlet flushing — Carry out scheduled flushing of infrequently used outlets and document all completed tasks.
•Carrying out internal ventilation covers cleaning as per planned maintenance
•Filter replacement — Replace point‑of‑use filters on taps, showers, and other outlets in line with infection‑control requirements.
•Maintenance record keeping — Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records of all checks, repairs, and compliance tasks.
•Basic repairs — Perform minor repairs such as replacing ceiling tiles, tightening fixtures, and repairing simple fittings.
•Lighting maintenance — Replace light bulbs, tubes, and diffusers across clinical and non‑clinical areas.
•Carry out duties in accordance with safe working practices within statutory, NHS, Trust and Company guidelines.
•Have an awareness of the operational procedures and safe working practices applicable to the work in hand
•Undertake training to maintain and develop the requirements of the service.
•Carry out any other duties as required commensurate with grade.
•Adjust working patterns or undertake overtime work as required to maintain the service or provide cover for absent colleagues
Qualifications or Required Experience:
•Experience in carrying out similar role
•Have an understanding of the operational procedures and safe working practices applicable to the task
•Ability to undertake minor maintenance tasks without direct supervision
•Ability to work to pre agreed method statements designed to reduce the hazards associated with the task in hand
•Driving licence desirable but not essential
