Als Elektrotechnieker werk je aan elektrotechnische installaties binnen infrastructuurprojecten zoals tunnels, tram- en treinverbindingen, autowegen, sluizen, controlecentra, beweegbare bruggen en EV-laadstations. Je combineert onderhoud, inspecties, reiniging, storingsoplossing en projectmatig werk in een omgeving waar veiligheid, betrouwbaarheid en beschikbaarheid centraal staan. Je krijgt de mogelijkheid om je verder te specialiseren in onder meer middenspanning, automatisatie, HVAC of tunneltechnieken en door te groeien binnen Equans.

Wat ga je doen?

• onderhoud en beheer van elektrotechnische installaties zoals laag- en middenspanning, stuur- en voedingssystemen, ventilatie, klimatisatie, camerabewaking en brandblussystemen
• storingen opsporen en oplossen binnen kritische infrastructuur
• preventief en correctief onderhoud uitvoeren met focus op beschikbaarheid en betrouwbaarheid
• installaties testen, controleren en in dienst stellen
• elektrische schema’s en technische documentatie lezen en toepassen
• meewerken aan installatie- en renovatieprojecten zoals borden, bekabeling en beveiliging
• interventies registreren en installaties opvolgen via digitale tools
• bijdragen aan de goede werking van tunneltechnieken zoals ventilatie-, rookafvoer-, verlichtings- en veiligheidssystemen

Apprentice Highways Operative

General overview

To work and train under supervision and to achieve an apprenticeship in Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative L2.

 Key activities

1. Installation & Maintenance Support

• Assist Column installation crews on new installations and replacements
• Assist qualified electricians in the installation, repair, and maintenance of street lighting assets, including columns, lanterns, cabling, and control equipment.
• Support fault-finding activities and carry out basic electrical checks under supervision.

2. Safety Compliance

• Follow all safety policies, risk assessments, and method statements when working on highways and electrical systems.
• Use PPE correctly and promptly report hazards, near misses, or unsafe conditions.

3. Learning & Development

• Successfully complete all apprenticeship training, coursework, and on-the-job assessments within required timescales.
• Actively seek to increase knowledge of electrical principles, lighting technologies, and industry standards.

4. Worksite Preparation & Support

• Prepare tools, equipment, and materials needed for site tasks.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organised work areas and vehicles.

5. Record Keeping

• Assist with accurate recording of work completed, materials used, and asset information using handheld devices or job sheets.

6. Customer & Public Interaction

• Behave professionally when interacting with the public, colleagues, or contractors on site.
• Represent the organisation positively, ensuring minimal disruption to road users and communities.

7. Quality & Standards

• Carry out tasks to the required technical and quality standards under the direction of a supervisor or qualified electrician.
• Report defects, asset issues, or installation concerns promptly.

Skills, qualifications & experience 

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English, and Science – Grade 4/C or above.
• Willingness to work toward the  NVQ Level 2 in Highway Electrical Systems apprenticeship standard.
• Willingness to obtain an ECS Apprentice Card.
• Full UK driving licence or working toward obtaining one
• No prior industry experience required — full training will be provided.
• Demonstrated interest in electrical work, engineering, or practical hands-on tasks

Electrical Qualifying Supervisor

Equans are recruiting for an Electrical Qualifying Supervisor to be based in Leeds. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview

The Electrical Qualifying Supervisor is responsible for supervising the electrical installation and commissioning activities on construction projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements. This role oversees the work of electrical operatives and subcontractors, supports workforce development through mentoring and assessment, and acts as a key interface between site management and engineering teams to guarantee successful electrical outcomes.

Predominately an office based role, the role will also require working on contracts as an Electrical Operative.

What will you deliver?

• Supervise and coordinate electrical installation work ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Assess, mentor, and verify the competence and qualifications of electrical operatives on site in accordance with industry and company standards.
• Ensure all electrical work meets quality and compliance standards such as BS 7671 (IEE Wiring Regulations) and building control requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other supervisors to plan and execute electrical works effectively within project timelines and budgets.
• Maintain accurate records of workforce qualification, training, and certification status.
• Identify training needs and facilitate learning or development opportunities for electrical operatives.
• Lead site safety briefings related to electrical activities and ensure hazards are managed proactively.
• Conduct inspections and audits on electrical installations and report any non-conformances or safety issues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives for electrical processes and best practice adoption.
